The Disqus Gem helps you easily integrate the Disqus commenting system into your Ruby-based website. It includes a Ruby wrapper for Disqus's REST API, and views helpers to generate their Javasript widgets.

What is Disqus?

From the Disqus website:

"Disqus, pronounced "discuss", is a service and tool for web comments and discussions. The Disqus comment system can be plugged into any website, blog, or application. Disqus makes commenting easier and more interactive, while connecting websites and commenters across a thriving discussion community."

"Disqus is a free service to the general public with absolutely no inline advertisements."

Using it

Configure it

Disqus::defaults[:account] = "my_disqus_account"

Optional, only if you're using the API

disqus's Issues

get_thread_list only return the first 25 threads

There is no way to set the "start" or "limit" arguments in [1] so there is no way to look at the remaining threads.

Bug running at Ubuntu 10.10 + RVM + Ruby 1.9.2

I don't know why, when I add disqus to my Gemfile, it raises an exception at ruby level, but this exception is inside the json gem, I don't know if it is an disqus bug or an json bug, the stack trace is:

Does this still work?

I'm not having any luck using this lib - has it been forgotten?

I can't figure out the documentation

How should I configure this gem? Do I set up an initializer? Do I then fill it like this?

Disqus::defaults[:developer] = false, # allows threads to work on localhost

Disqus::defaults[:avatar_size] = 24, # squared pixel size of avatars
Disqus::defaults[:color] = 'grey', # theme color

But this didn't work when I tried. I simply don't understand the right way of doing it. Please help.
