aurora's Issues

Cannot start Aurora from ISO image

When attempting to boot Aurora from ISO image, I get the following screen (in VirtualBox):

Is this something seen before? I am using VirtualBox 7.0 on Arch Linux (Endeavour OS).

Boot - no login screen

Describe the bug

Most of the time, booting won't proceed to the login screen, and gets stuck.

I'm able to switch to a different tty (e.g. tty2 or tty5), and from there, can confirm that SDDM is active (running) by using
systemctl status sddm

Then I run systemctl restart sddm, and everything becomes normal - the login screen shows up.

This issue is deployment agnostic.

What did you expect to happen?

The login screen shows up without having to restart SDDM.

Extra information or context

I read somewhere this may happen when the GPU driver loads too slow. Is there any way to make GPU driver loads faster (e.g. prioritize it when scheduling the boot sequence)? Someone also mentioned to add delay to the loading of SDDM, although this will make the boot-up even slower.

USB thumb drives will not mount when clicked on in Dolphin - permissions issue

Describe the bug

I have a few different USB thumb drives. They mount fine under Bazzite. When I use them in Aurora, I get the following error message:

An error occurred while accessing 'usb-256', the system responded: You are not authorized to perform this operation: Not authorized to perform operation (polkit authority not available and caller is not uid 0)

What did you expect to happen?

I expected dolphin to be able to mount the drive as it can on Kinoite and Bazzite, but it won't.

Not-installed gnome-system-monitor entry appears in Application Menu and KRunner

Describe the bug

When searching for applications prefixed with gnome-, an entry without an icon appears for gnome-system-monitor which isn't installed.

What did you expect to happen?

The entry should not be there.

Extra information or context

This seems to be caused by the presence of gnome-system-monitor.desktop inside of /usr/share/applications. I can hide the entry with the KDE menu editor, but it still comes up when searching for gnome-. The file only has Hidden=true as contents.

P.S.: Aurora is awesome, exactly what I was looking for! 👍

Launching Ptyxis (Failed)

Describe the bug

Can't open Ptyxis. When using GUI to open it, it shows an error msg: Could not activate remote peer: unit failed.

What did you expect to happen?

Ptyxis starting normally.
