I'm a huge fan of the card game Magic the Gathering and I primarily play a format of the game called "Commander". I love playing this game with friends, and we've encountered a couple issues with several aspects with it: Games last a long time and it is hard to remember key areas to improve on. There are a ton of values to keep track of. If you're the owner of the phone using a game tracker and you get knocked out first, it's a long time before you see your phone again. This project was designed to solve some of these problems by giving users the ability to: Keep track every player's values and display them on each user's phone. Give users the ability to take notes and review their old matches.

Description

Duration: 2 week sprint

I'm a huge fan of the card game Magic the Gathering and I primarily play a format of the game called "Commander". I love playing this game with friends, and we've encountered a couple issues with several aspects with it:

• Games last a long time and it is hard to remember key areas to improve on.
• There are a ton of values to keep track of.

This project was designed to solve some of these problems by giving users the ability to:

• Keep track every player's values and display them on each user's phone.
• Give users the ability to take notes and review their old matches.

Demo

In this demo, we have two users logged into the app.
The first user, "Neil", starts a new match and invites another user to join the match by giving them a code to enter.

This software is required before installing the app:

• Node.js
• PostrgeSQL
• Nodemon

Future

I don't have any current plans on adding additional features to this repo, but there are a couple things I would like to implement in future projects that are similar to this one:

• Use a QR code generator to easily connect users to match rooms instead of using a randomly generated string.
• Implement web sockets to connect users to rooms. This would help reduce the amount of api calls to the database with how my app is currently built.
