Spot

Spot is a Spotify client for iPhone based on despotify. You can see a video of it in action on youtube.

All dependencies are bundled.

Please note: You MUST have a Spotify Premium account to use Spot! Otherwise it'll just crash. Yes, I need to add a check for that...

Contribution notes

Please follow these recommendations, or I might not be able to pull changes from your fork:

Follow Cocoa naming conventions
Make atomic commits. One feature per commit.
If you change a .xib or .xcodeproj, describe the change thorougly so I can reproduce it, as it'll probably not merge cleanly and I'll have to remake it manually

Client needs upgrading, but how>?

Sometimes a song can't be played

And there's no details on why. Catch the error and show an alert.

Auto-lock stops the playback

iPhone's auto-lock feature forces playback to stop. On unlock the playback continues. Does not happen during manual lock.

Play/pause button doesn't toggle image

Categorize browsing results

Albums, Singles, Appears on; like in the official client.
Also sort by inverse year.

Login Fail often when connection < WiFi

Login fails very often on connections lower then WiFi.
If you are on 3G and open a safari just before Spot there is greater chance of success

compile errors

Hi I'm having some problems trying to link against openssl to complile your xcode-project:
../spot/Vendor/despotify/src/lib/session.h:11:24: error: openssl/dh.h: No such file or directory

I have got openssl installed (for osx) and are available under /usr/include/openssl, although I don't have a build for the iphone (which I'm guessing is my problem). I've had a look at all the iPhone frameworks and it doesn't look like any of them come with openssl installed?

I also noticed that you have included libssl.a and libcrypto.a which may have include the openssl dependancy I'm after although I'm not sure why it still has compliation problems.

What have you done to get openssl installed on your pc?

Last.fm scobbling

Play view should have the song info in the navigation bar

instead of just above the album art. This way, album art can be stretched to fill the entire black area

Search results should only show category headers for categories with results

E g no "Did you mean?" header if I actually spelled right.

Kalaspuff wrote a fix for this but there must be a more elegant solution (although I can't think of one right now, ergo this issue)

Play view screen "Now playing" missing

When you have picked a song and started playing it, a nice play view is shown with album cover, title, artist and album. However when you press the back button and for example want to search for some songs while the current song is playing, there is no way to return to the play view again.

A button for "Now playing" would be nice, taking you to the play view screen.

Not working with current spotify API

After compiling and running in the simulator, I'm getting "client upgrade required" apparently despotify_init_client() has been updated to require a fourth parameter, "use_cache". I'm not sure how easily this can be updated, seems lke there have been a number of changes
