Github's syntax highlighting just prompted me to try changing rec
to something else. Apparently that fixes the issue. This still seems like a bug to me, given that the code compiles fine and parses fine with haskell-src-exts, but no longer a big bug.
I'm leaving this open for now in case someone really wants to track this down, but in the more likely event that you just want to move on with your life I have no objections to thing being closed.

The issue will be that derive
turns on a bunch of extensions to try and parse more things, and one of them is RecursiveDo
- which steals the rec
keyword. In HLint I disabled that at some point, and Derive stole its list of what extensions to enable/disable from HLint, so I just resync'd them, which will fix the issue.
Given I'm trying to step away from maintaining derive I won't be making a release, but hope one of the new maintainers might.

Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! For a retiring maintainer, you sure have a great response time! :)
