`!gm` command

"you know, it's interesting when people say gm. they might mean good morning, but they also might mean general motors. you'd need to check the news, has anything happened with general motors recently? and what really is a morning, anyway? where is the threshold between night and morning? if you think about it, 'morning' is subjective, and it's always morning somewhere, so really you could just respond to any given statement with 'good morning' and it would be completely valid. what could be wrong with that? and what is good, anyway? what if I don't think morning is good? what if I have my own private definition of good? what do other people mean by good? do other people even exist?"

`!epiphany`

Implement !epiphany command to upload pictures of bunnies

Implement `!mute` and `!unmute` functions

  • The bot gives the Member role to a person as soon as they join the server.
  • The bot gives the Muted role to a person when we type !mute @person
  • The bot removes the Muted role from a person when we type !unmute @person
  • The bot removes all their other roles when giving someone the Muted role.
  • The bot gives all their old roles back to them when typing !unmute @person, including the Member role.
  • The bot only does these commands when typed by someone with the Local Poptart or Cafe Maid roles, or by anyone with administrator permissions, including the server owner.

Setup Github Actions

I have 3 things that I need to implement:

  • Python test to make sure the python package will actually run.
  • Deploy to EC2, possibly with a container
  • Create a release page to keep track of the changes
  • Create CHANGELOG.md command
  • Auto-update EC2 server instance upon merge into master

Update `!dimden` command

!dimden currently relies on pictures of Dimden being uploaded. I'd rather use the tenor api to do this query instead as this can be extended out to other commands in the future.

Add in `!bookclub` command

Add in a !bookclub command to return general information about when bookclub meets. The general text is this:

Book Club is held every Sunday at 1:00PM PST. We typically read books and short stories about history, politics, philosophy, etc. Our reading pace is about 30-50 pages a week, depending on the material. You can sign up for all BC notifications with the "Book Club" role. You can also choose the "Book Club (Waiting)" sign up for notifications only when we are starting a new book or short story. Even if you aren't reading the material, please still feel free to join the Sunday VC sessions just to listen in!
