I think everything in here should reference esmlab

popeos.eos blows memory with large datasets

popeos.eos implements the equation of state for the POP ocean model. Applying it to a large dataset (number of time level = 816) is producing a memory error. I suspect that this is avoidable if the function is modified to keep things as dask arrays.

Perhaps this is something @jukent can tackle?

open_mfdataset concatenates grid variables

catalog creation inclusive of HPSS holdings

Not all CESM-LE data are on disk; some variables are stored on HPSS.

The HSI command
find /CCSM/csm/CESM-CAM5-BGC-LE -name "*.nc"
could be used to generate a complete list of files; this could be used to compile the catalog, noting which files are on disk and which are not.

What happens if a user wants files that are not on disk but are on tape?
