I think there is no extra searchfield needed in this case. We can use the parent searchfield which contains ID of relatedItem[@type='host']. There are also the fields mods.relatedItem, mods.relatedItem.host and mods.relatedItem.series. I think one of them will fit this use case.

I think this line should be activated by default.

The plugin doesn't work with current MIR LTS-version. There are some changes made. I also think that duepublico specific templates should not be part of this plugin.
My attached version works with current MIR LTS 2018.0.6

Navigation view only works on root object, at children I can't see the navigation box:

Do you think we can also bring this to work with relatedItems/@type="series" ? I have this series: https://reposis-test.gbv.de/repper/receive/repper_mods_00000806 containing collections (relatedItem/@type="series") with articles (relatedItem/@type="host")
