What would you recommend for engineers with large experience (15 years +) on the enterprise market(banks, telecoms, etc) that would like to get more involved on open source projects?
How would you compare and differentiate the skills required to operate on the open source and enterprise market? Is it one harder than the other or just different?
With SwiftUI comes the full fledged reactive framework "Combine". Does this have any implications for PromiseKit? And what do you think of Combine?
Are you happy with the recent changes to homebrew with the elimination of optional dependencies? I know you've apparently left the project, but just wondering on the thoughts of the creator of homebrew.
If you're 25 what's the advice you can give for your younger self for becoming a better programmer?
So, I'm a homebrew user, and I can't help but notice the lack in speed in brew compared to something like apt on Debian. So, I was wondering if you had any thoughts there.
In another sense, What does open source mean for you?
Many people think that developing the open source or libraries are the less reward for our efforts.
Because it is not directly related to money or other material things.
So what the value from the open source for you?
And could you give some advice to newbie open source developers?
I know probably a stupid question… but do you share your dotfiles on GitHub? More importantly your Zsh (or bash) config files? I’m very curious to see your setup.
I really want to start getting into open source. I have no idea what sort of thing to create, so I think I can start by contributing to some projects I like. But I don't know how to code the stuff they're doing and it's difficult to understand their codebases. What do you recommend? How should I learn more on coding these things? Thanks!
IMO you are an inspiration to what a developer should be and a great example for all of us using your software.
And do you tend to enjoy the feeling? And how long does this codeaholic usually last? Sorry for weird question haha
Have you ever thought about remodeling your site, adding a blog and putting Medium posts on it, I saw a problem with the bitcoin frame, it slightly breaks it and maybe put the project on an interesting serious page. Jekyll is a great solution. I really like Homebrew, a great Package Management solution.
As the title says, how did you come up with mxcl?
I have found nothing like PromiseKit in the Android world, and I want it. Do you have an opinion? So far I have found:
Do you use any of these and if so why you prefer one over another?
I've recently taken an interest into the different types of open source licenses and have a preference for something like AGPLv3 over MIT or the unlicense because in theory it forces those who fork & update the code to keep it open source which to me keeps the project inline with it's original nature, obligating future developers to pick up the open source baton or go elsewhere.
What's your approach when it comes to picking a license?
Just notice that someone already asked the google interview :).
Plus: Do you think algorithms are important?
As a developer we both love open source ,but most developers never know how to start .
It's not easy to set up from one idea to open source ,but can you give some practice to be an Open source developer?I think most developers are waiting for this topic ,perhaps that's not a good question ,but truly hope you can share your experience .
Hi, I am a Chinese iOS Developer.
iOS Develop have been publish almost ten year,
and I think iOS Native Develop is not so popular and less market demanding than before.
So I would like ask your opinion about iOS/MacOS development's future trending?
💖
I saw in another thread you mentioned you worked there for 4 years. Was it fun? What did you work on?
I ask because I've been a scrobbler since 2007 and used to imagine what it would like to work there and the stack that stores all the scrobbles.
