captiveportalcontroller's Issues

not getting the pop up with the command for permission.

V110 fdroid.
Android 8 Samsung oem Galaxy s7
Android 6 lenovo oem phab2
Android 6.01 oem Samsung Galaxy s5 active

I do not get the pop up with the command to give the needed permission for the app to work.

Which i assume it's the reason the app is not working on either ROM
The command is not in the read me here either.

Would be nice for a way to get the command on demand in the app to cut and paste.

toast to fast, how to select presets unknown

V100 fdroid
There was a toast when i enabled the controller. But it was too fast to read.

No idea how to select presets . No menu or settings option

Otherwise everything seems to be working good on pixel 6 proton aosp android 12.

I'll test other devices and Android versions later.

Thank you for this app.

Add root support

Add support for automatically granting WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission via root access. After a quick search on stackoverflow it seems to be possible to do, but sorry if I am wrong.

Issue with UI

The following video depicts an issue with the UI:

As visible in the video the mode field gets overlapped with the mode selection drop down menu in portrait orientation.

Add Connectivity Check and SUPL replacement?

Hi, awesome app! Especially that it works without root!

Using the same permissions, would it be possible to replace the Connectivity Check and SUPL servers? GrapheneOS hosts these too, among others.

Would be awesome! I can try to help but unsure.

pm grant command syntax wrong?

Hi

thank you for your work on this app which I would like to use (avoid Google's default captiveportal).

This is on a Xiaomi M11 (model: M2101K9G) with current MIUI 14.0.6. When running adb "pm grant" command. Unsure what I am doing wrong? Has the command syntax changed? Thanks for any advice.

sudo ./adb devices
[sudo] password for michael:
List of devices attached
cb566fc4 device

pm grant io.github.muntashirakon.captiveportalcontroller android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Usage: pm [action] [targets]
-1,--on targets Power on targets
-0,--off targets Power off targets
-c,--cycle targets Power cycle targets
-q,--query-all Query power state of all targets
-Q,--query targets Query power state of specific targets

How do I revert back?

I installed this app on my S22 running OneUI 6 (Android 14). I'm not sure what this app is meant to do but when I installed I assumed this would let me automatically login to a Wi-Fi with a captive portal set up.

I recently joined college and found out that my hostel's Wi-Fi requires every student to login through the captive portal to access the internet and they achieve this through SOPHOS. So, basically whenever my phone connects to this Wi-Fi network, a notification pops up and I require to sign-in to the network. When I tap the notification, it sends me to a webpage where I login using my credentials. And I have to do this step everytime I'm connected to this network.

I expected that it would automatically somehow push my username and password in the background or through some other mechanism would automatically log me into the network automatically whenever I connect to it.

But when I installed and granted the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission and entered my login page address in the app, it stopped giving me the sign-in notification (which is obvious as I wanted it to login automatically) but it didn't log me in. After tinkering around with it and finding no way out, I gave up and uninstalled the app. But even after uninstalling, the phone doesn't send that notification to login to the captive portal anymore. I tried to forget the wifi network and yet that notification from Android Captive Portal doesn't show up. In the App Info page of Android Captive Portal, I find that the notifications are blocked but the toggle to allow notifications are greyed out.

How do I revert the device state to how it was before?
