Feature request: Gain administrative privileges when neccessary (Windows Vista+)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set download location to a privileged location, e.g. c:\Progra~1\ or
c:\Progra~2\.
2. Attempt to download a file or folder.
3. Download fails with the following error:
"Error: coro_receive_into_file: Access is denied (22);"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
If a download should fail due to lack of privileges, UFTT should leverage the
new Windows User Account Control (UAC) to (temporarily) gain the required
privileges to perform the requested download action.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
Reproducible with release 961.

Tray icon show/hide misbehaves on linux

- switching to another desktop will trigger 'hide to systray'
- when uftt is not hidden, but not the active window either,
clicking the tray icon will hide it, instead of activate it

This was using KDE4 as window manager, maybe gnome or others act differently.

Needs to be investigated how exactly the show/hide and tray events work on
linux.

UFTT for windows can't handle paths longer than 260 characters

I'm creating this issue to discuss and document the MAX_PATH limitation on
windows.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
On a windows machine, either:
- Upload a share containing a file with abolute path > 260 characters
- Download a share resulting in a file with abolute path > 260 characters

Now the upload/download will abort with an error.

For windows NT+ it is possible to work around this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247.aspx#maxpath

We could implement this in UFTT, but i'm not 100% sure if we should. Such files
with an absolute path > 260 characters won't be accessible by most
applications. On windows XP even explorer cannot handle them so there is not
even an easy method to delete such files.

Should we implement this? Should it be a runtime option? Should it default to
on or off? Should the option be 'hidden' (advanced settings only)?
Also, can explorer handle such files on windows vista/7?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Remove C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Uftt\uftt.dat
2. Run uftt-9x-r610.exe
3. Application crashes

What is the expected output?
Uftt should run without errors, and create a new uftt.dat if none is present.

Constant high CPU usage

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Don't install IPv6
2. Start UFTT

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Normal CPU usage is expected, but because of the output of missing IPv6:
80% CPU usage.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Uftt does not show all shares

Network setup:
PC running windows 98se <--> Laptop running GNU/Linux (Gentoo) <--> Linksys
wireless router <--> Internets
The laptop shares internet to the windows PC.

Using uftt-9x-r482.exe, only local and LAN shares (on the laptop) are
shown, "Global peer discovery" does not seem to show any shares. Also
shares on another computer in the LAN are not shown. The laptop can see the
windows 9x share. Other computers in the LAN can not see shares on the
windows 98 PC.

Using uftt-9x-r610.exe, only local and "Global peer discovery" shares are
shown. Shares on the laptop or other computers on the LAN are not shown.
The laptop and other computers in the LAN can not see shares on the windows
98 PC.

uftt r439 does not work under windows 2000

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Boot windows 2000
2. Download either uftt-xp-r439.exe or uftt-9x-r439.exe
3. Run either uftt-r439-xp.exe or uftt-r439-9x.exe

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The uftt main window should be shown and the program should function as
intended.
Instead the windows xp version instantly quits without any message
whatsoever (even when run from cmd.exe it just instantly quits with any
message being printed to the console). The windows 9x version is terminated
by windows with the following message:
---8<---------
uftt-9x-r439.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.
[OK]
--->8---------

However no error message is present in the windows event logs (that I can
see anyway).

Open containing folder should select the item in question

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Share something
2. Download it
3. Right click the finished task and select 'Open containing folder'

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
An explorer window should pop-up, with the downloaded item selected.
Instead an explorer window should pop-up, but the downloaded item is NOT
selected.

Transferring files with UFTT leads to filesystem fragmentation

This report is not about the obvious fragmentation which occurs when running
multiple downloads in parallel (I'm not sure if we can do a whole lot about
that, pre-allocation might help though). This is about what happens when
downloading a single shared directory with multiple files in it.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Make sure target drive is properly defragmented, and has sufficiently free
space to ensure that new files can be created without causing fragmentation.
2. Download multiple a shared directory with multiple files in it.
3. Check fragmentation of target drive.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The drive, in particular the freshly downloaded files, should be free of
fragmentation. Instead the freshly downloaded files are fragmented.

Fragmentation seems to occur at boundaries of files. E.g. the end of file 'A'
is interleaved with the beginning of file 'B' on the cluster level.

This fragmentation does not seem to occur when using the native windows file
copying tool. (e.g. drag&drop with explorer.exe). Not (yet) tested under Linux,
however this may be less of an issue there since there aren't any
defragmentation tools anyway (so no-one's gonna know).

Possible fixes (I'm guessing here):
A) Make sure file 'A' is closed before opening (or at least writing data to)
file 'B'.
B) Pre-allocate space for files.
C) A+B

New UFTT instance won't work if one is already running

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Minimize UFTT (will go systray)
2. Start new instance
3. New instance will not have network connectivity.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Uftt should do one of the following: (in order of preference)
 - Automatically bring the currently running instance to the front.
 - Notify the user that this instance will not have network connectivity.
 - Refuse to start if UFTT is already running.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

ext::filesystem is not compatible with boost >= 1.46

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrade from <dev-libs/boost-1.46 to >=dev-libs/boost-1.46
2. Compile UFTT

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
UFTT should compile, but it does not.
Instead compilation halts with the following error message:
---8<---------
In file included from
/home/dafox/Projects/uftt/trunk/src/util/SettingsManager.h:14,
                 from /home/dafox/Projects/uftt/trunk/src/util/SettingsManager.cpp:1:

make[1]: *** [src/util/CMakeFiles/lib-util.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
--->8---------

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
The problem seems to stem from a redesign of the boost-filesystem library, the
implementation of which has become the default starting from boost 1.46.
As a work-around it is possible (for now) to #define BOOST_FILESYSTEM_VERSION
to version 2.

Transferring a directory with locked files crashes UFTT

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Share project directory while open in VS
2. Download share
3. BOOM!

This happened a couple of times tody, but I did not get any crash info
and have not yet really investigated this yet, so consider this a 'todo'.
