mremoteng's Issues

VNC CTRL+key & keyboard combo mappings are broken

mRemoteNG 1.6.3 using VNC connected to a tigervnc 1.0.0 server running on Fedora Core11 x64. Running from Windows 7 (64bit)

The keyboard does not work correctly, in particular the CTRL + KEY. I used TightVNC client to connect to the same VNC server and it works flawlessly.

Password protection

Hi,

This was an issue back with mRemote and still exists in mRemoteNG.

When loading the defult xml config after I have password protected and encrypted it, if I click on cancel I can no longer open up the defult xml config file even if I close the application.

On another note, thanks for restarting this project!

RDP Connection authentication problem

If you connect to an RDP connection with stored username but without password, mRemoteNG tries to authenticate without password first. This means your account may even become locked out if the AD is configured for this and you're connecting to many RDP connections in quick succession.

If there is no stored password, mRemoteNG should not try to log in automatically.

Tab switch is not working in config panel

Hi,

When you create a new connection, it's impossible to switch to an other option with key press. You stay on the same option. When you have to insert lot of data settings, it should be very useful.

activated Windows key after some time of inactivity

Hi,

I hope I didn't overlooked an already existing bug: I moved from mremote to mremoteng and (among other reasons) I hoped that this solves the problem, that after logged on to mainly Windows 2003 servers and if I didn't use this sessions for let's say 30 minutes or so (btw: no screensaver is involved) then the keyboard in this RDP session behaves like I have permanently pressed the "Windows key". Really pressing this key then resets the keyboard behavior.

Does anybody have the same effect?
Thanks and kind regards.

Connect in external window

There is a connection manager called "Putty connection manager" that has the ability to connect in a external window. That is right clicking on the putty connection and say "External Window" or the like. This feature is a really good thing when you want to for example follow a logfile on a another screen at the same time doing something else on the other.

Not sure if this is something that might be useful for others but I have found it being a good extra connection choice.

Changing some settings in the config file may not save (v. 1.66)

I have a long list of servers in v. 1.66 that when I duplicate a connection and change items such as "Inherit all" or "credentials," press the enter to commit, and then switch from properties to inheritance view or vice-versa, the settings that should have taken do not. When I switch back, I see they have reverted to the old settings. I have noticed this on existing connections in folders or connection I newly create in folders and change later in the day. I have only noticed this on RDP connections and it doesn't always happen, but happened often yesterday when updating some SharePoint servers in my connections list. But, it seems to happen more so on the "Duplicate connection" option than anything else.

Running mRemote NG on a Windows 7, x64 box, joined to a network domain.

RDP title bar appears at the top of the screen in Windows 7

Once a RDP connection is established to a Windows host via mRemote, on Windows 7, the standard RDP title bar appears at the top of the screen (not the mRemote window, but the screen itself). It disappears automatically after a few seconds.
If possible, disable it from showing altogether.

Log file is saved in application directory

The log file mRemoteNG.log is saved in the application directory. This may cause problems on Windows Vista and Windows 7 when User Account Control is enabled.

The log file location should be moved to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\mRemoteNG\mRemoteNG.log or preferably, made configurable.

RDP Full screen on larger secondary monitor has scrollbars

I use mremote on a laptop. When I have it on the second screen(higher resolution), and connect using RDP full screen; I get scroll bars(horizontal and vertical) on the full screen display. The second screen is also on the left. I'm don't think that would cause the issue, but I thought I would state it. I'm on XP 32bit connecting to Server 2008 R2 X64. mRemote version is 1.63

SQL Server refresh Issues

Hello,

i tried Sql server experimental option and my data is correctly entered in the table. But username, password and domainname are empty (not saved).

It will be better if all data could be saved in the Sql database.

NLA RDP Session produces Error 519

Hi@All,
we have multiple W2k R2 Server with NLA enabled. I have all Servers implemented with Servername (Display) and IP-Adress in the Configuration pane.
If I tried to access one of the NLA-enabled Servers, first the authetication tab comes up,
I could enter my credentials, then the Session disconnects showing: Error 519
with OK Button below.
I Hope that I have just a misconfiguration?

With best Regards from Germany

Ctrl+Tab should work to change tabs

This is only a feature request to have a Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab function work in mRemoteNG this would help to quickly change between the different tabs in the application.

15-bit RDP color mode unconfigurable

The RDPv7 protocol has an additional, 15-bit color mode, available for use. This mode can't be configured via mRemoteNG at present as the option is unavailable in the Colors drop-down settings.

Connections from SQL keep refreshing every 3s

I'm using mRemoteNG 1.67, fresh install.

I managed to save the connections in SQL Server (after using this workaround http://forum.mremoteng.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1560) and seems working pretty ok: items get refreshed lively to another machine as well.

But in the following scenario connections tree keep refreshing every 3s (the left tree keeps redrawing and it loses the focus on the item tree on a redraw). Steps to reproduce:

  1. install and save connections to SQL from machine1
  2. configure same SQL connection in machine2
  3. add some new connection on machine2
  4. the new connections now appears on machine1 but the connections tree keeps refreshing every 3 seconds in an annoying way

Thanks

Application uses the wrong Application Data settings folder (in Local Settings)

mRemoteNG uses the wrong folder to store its settings. It creates the mRemoteNG folder in %LOCALAPPDATA% (Local Settings\Application Data or AppData\Local in Vista+) which is a folder local to the machine in question, doesn't roam with the rest of the user profile and can't be redirected to the network. mRemoteNG should, as all proper Windows applications, store the settings in the roaming section of the profile: %APPDATA% (Application Data or AppData\Roaming in Vista+).

Multiple data sources

Feature suggestion: would be useful to have multiple data source (a few xml files, one or a few SQL connections etc.) opened at the same time in the left connections tree.
At the very minimum there should be the SQL data source and a local file since it's common to have some shared connections with your colleagues while you want to keep some private.

External App parameter macro expansion doesn't work with "try to integrate"

Macros aren't expanded for external app arguments when "try to integrate" is selected.

A quick look at the code reveals that the parameter expansion is only done for non-integrated external tools.

This is a major shortcoming, as many tools which would integrate nicely into an mRemoteNG tab can't be used without proper parameter macro expansion.

Memory Leaks

Hi,

I found that if you use the mRemoteNG for a long time (4 hours and more) and that you copy a lot of stuff between a workstation and a server for example that for some unknown reason the rdpclip.exe on the server is leaking for memory and the process can take all the memory of the server and the server will hang... Yes I crashed a server with mRemoteNG :( I did some tests and I found that it isnt one server. I saw it on 3 differents servers and I was lucky to find it before the server crashed and I killed the process.

Maybe you can disable by default the copy function and add an option for that.

If I use the RDP version of Microsoft on my server I don't get a problem like that :) but I like your product and I hope you will correct it.

Please note that I can replicate this problem 4-5 times a day...

Thanks

RDP not wokring without Admin rights in Portable Edition

Hi,

I tried mRemoteng portable today. It's great that you are fixing the "old" mRemote and adding new features.

I tried mRemoteng portable on a Windows 2003 Teminal Server, but it says, that RDP is not working.
Before I used mRemote portable on this Server and it worked without any problem.

I also tried t reregister the dll, but that didn't work.

So it looks like there are some differences between mRemote and mRemoteng.

If yo need osme more information to solve this problem, don't hasetate to contact me.

Problem using SQL

I'm Tryng to use the sql connection.
It Gives up giving me this error :
Couldn't save connections file
Il numero delle colonne dell'istruzione INSERT è minore del numero dei valori specificati nella clausola VALUES. Il numero dei valori della clausola deve corrispondere al numero delle colonne specificate nell'istruzione.

mRemoteNG 1.63 will not start on XP SP3 system

Love mRemoteNG and it was running great, but suddenly will not start on my XP SP3 machine. Uninstalled; rebooted; reinstalled. Uninstalled; removed all registry references; rebooted; reinstalled. No error messages displayed...mRemoteNG just never starts.

No events in the Application or System logs to indicate an error. Are there mRemoteNG specific logs I can check?

Just global user/no password for empty fields

Related to Options field: "For empty Username, Password or Domain fields use:" it would be useful to be able to use just user and no global password.

This is specially useful when the configuration is shared between users (shared file or SQL) and each person has it's own user so they would use this global option to fill in they're user. But when using SSH keys or if using different passwords for each machine, mremoteng is sending the empty password to SSH server and windows closes (since authentication fails).

Error when starting over an network drive

mRemoteNG portable edition 1.64.

When I copy the files on to a local drive I can successfully start the program.
When I copy the files on to a mapped network drive, mRemoteNG won't start and the following error is logged in the application log:

(Sorry, it's on a German computer)
Windows Vista SP1, 32bit
.Net 2-4 is installed

When I log on to my Windows 2003 Terminal Server and start mRemoteNG over the same mapped network drive, it works.

External Toolbar Toggles on and off in Radmin

First I must say LUV this tool!

Most excellent.

Using 1.67

I use this to tab radmin viewer as an external program and it works very well with one exception,

I ramin to a server and the external toolbar will show. External toolbar is selected under view.

I radmin to another server the external toolbar doesnt show up. Under view the external toolbar shows as selected and on even though its not showing.

If I select view , external toolbar it will now show up.

Any subsequent radmin servers do the exact same thing , no external toolbar but if I select it under view it shows.

Anyway to fix this or alernately assign a key stroke to the external toolbar menu item.

thanks
snuffy

Can't read config file after putting blank folder at top

If you put a blank folder at the top of the list of connections. Then exit and restart mremoteng, it will only show the blank folder. And it will have a world icon instead of a folder icon. You have to edit the xml file and delete that folder to get your connections back.

Shell prompt loses focus after switching tabs

After switching tabs, another click on the Putty shell is required to gain focus and be able to type on the prompt. This is not an issue with mRemote which automatically changes focus.

Window move and focus behaviour (Windows 7)

When running nRemote or nRemoteNg on windows 7 with putty, some problems with moving or focussing the window occurs:
When nRemoteNg is open and another window overlays it's window:

  • clicking on the nRemoteNg window brings it to top but focusses the internal putty window (the nRemoteNg window still has the decorations of an window without focus)
  • clicking on the internal putty window instead focusses the putty window without bringing the nRemoteNg window to top

When moving the nRemoteNg window while a putty session is open, this works for a short moment. Then the window looses it's focus while moving (the internal putty windows gains it instead) and sticks at the current position.

RDP connections logged off instead of disconnected when exiting mRemoteNG

When an RDP connection is closed with the cross button or a connection panel wit RDP session is closed teh running session(s) is/are just disconnected. You can reconnect to this RDP session and continue working where you left off.
When mRenoteNG is closed all open RDP connections are ended. If you reconnect to the remote computer with RDP you can not reconnect to the previous session but are connected to a new session. Unsaved work in de ended RDP session is lost.
Is there a way or can a new option be added to avoid that RDP sessions are ended in stead of just disconnected when mRemoteNG is quit?
I know that on the remote computer these client sessions can be overruled but it is not for me to change these settings on the remote computer and also not allways possible.

enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Allow child inheritance

Inheritance is a genius idea! I absolutely love this project.

When creating multiple levels of sub folders and connections, it would be great to specify inheritance at a parent level to automatically set all children to inherit the same properties as the parent.

For instance, I need to create a hierarchy of nested folders but they should all share the same login information, protocol information, etc. The only thing that really needs to change is the display information.

It's a lot of extra clicks to set sub folders and connections to inherit from the parent.

Save external tools to SQL database

When using a shared SQL database external tools should be saved as well in the database otherwise some connections won't work without the extrenal tools.

IPv6 doesn't work in quick Connect box

If you put an IPv6 address into the quick Connect box, you cannot connect to the device. I tried brackets the same way web browsers accept IPv6 addresses, but that did not work either. IPv6 works fine if "Add Connection" is used instead.

Gecko times out

Hi

When i use the Gecko/Firefox (i think i did test with the IE aswell, same outcome) and i works fine except that just after i type in 4 letters on a login page or just after about 5 seconds i freezes for about 10 seconds and then come back to normal, and from there it works fine untill i try to log in to a new account i then freezes again for about 10 sec.

v. 1.66 SQL-connection not working

Since update from v. 1.64 to v.1.66 the "testing" SQL-connection to database isn´t working any more.
tested with 1.64 -> working
tested with 1.66 -> no entry in connections shown

Connection to server 2008

Hello,

I'm unable to connect from my windows 7 64 bit to a server 2008 64 bit .This feature works like a charm on my old mRemote, so something in the code probably has changed.I have tried every way i can think off and it's not 1 server.
