mojs-player's Introduction

mo · js – npm ci Coverage Status Slack

The motion graphics toolbelt for the web.

mo · js

Intro

mo · js is a javascript motion graphics library that is a fast, retina ready, modular and open source. In comparison to other libraries, it has a different syntax and code animation structure approach. The declarative API provides you a complete control over the animation, making it customizable with ease.

The library provides built-in components to start animating from scratch like html, shape, swirl, burst and stagger, but also bring you tools to help craft your animation in a most natural way. Using mojs on your site will enhance the user experience, enrich your content visually and create delightful animations precisely.

Install

Use with a bundler

Mojs is published on the NPM registry, so you can install it through the command line interpreter using your favorite package manager. This is the best way to install the library if you are comfortable with javascript bundlers like webpack or rollup.

# npm
npm install @mojs/core

# yarn
yarn add @mojs/core

Then import it like any other module inside your build:

import mojs from '@mojs/core';

new mojs.Html({
  // ...
});

Using a bundler has many advantages like output compression, code splitting, tree shaking, etc., so we encourage you to use this kind of tool with mojs.

Use with a CDN

To rapidly include the minified production file in your web page, load the latest build from your favorite CDN using a generic script markup:

<!-- unpkg -->
<script src="https://unpkg.com/@mojs/core"></script>

<!-- jsdelivr -->
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@mojs/core"></script>

Then instanciate using:

<script>
  new mojs.Html({
    // ...
  });
</script>

By default, if no one is specified, the CDN will automatically target the @latest version of mojs and load the UMD build from dist/mo.umd.js.

mojs-player's Issues

Mojs Player Latency

@zfrisch commented on Wed Dec 21 2016

Hello! Strangely I'm having an issue with the Mojs Player tracker line being latent. It's only an issue in my Chrome Browser(Version 55.0.2883.87 m, which is the most current). In FF and IE10/Edge it seems to work fine. The error also doesn't seem to show up on CrossBrowserTesting (the site that CodePen uses for Cross Browser Testing).

I recorded a video to show what I'm talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_ib-3OWCuE

Here's the CodePen :

Thanks!

Hello @zfrisch . There's a big chance your problem is related to a chrome extension. It's a really common issue. Try to run it in an anonymous window and see if the issue persists.

@zfrisch commented on Wed Dec 21 2016

Hi @eltonmesquita ! Thanks for the advice. I tried this in Incognito Mode and made sure my Chrome extensions were all disabled for good measure. Unfortunately it's still showing the same on my screen.

@legomushroom commented on Wed Dec 21 2016

Hi Zak, Hi Elton!

I have seen that issue when you use the player inside an iFrame, for instance it behaves like that when you use it with webpack-dev-server. Is it true for you? Any environments details I should know about?

Thanks a lot for the issue!

@legomushroom commented on Wed Dec 21 2016

Oh yeah, I think we should move this issue to https://github.com/legomushroom/mojs-player repo

Add `onToggleHide` callback

Add the onToggleHide callback that will be called with a boolean indicating the visibility state of the player. This callback should be called after user taps on the button:

hide button

Player's constructor with the callback:

new MojsPlayer({
  add: timeline,
  onToggleShow(isHidden) {
    if (isHidden) { // do something when player is invisiblie }
    else { // do something when player is visiblie }
  }
});

Check if element '#icon' already is created

Currently mojs-player creates an element in the top of body that looks like this:

<div id="icons">
  <svg ...>
    <path id="play-icon-shape" d="...">
    ...
  </svg>
</div>

This is for using svg elements as icons in the player controller.

Problem
When using mulitple instances of mojs-player on the same page, we get dublicates of these elements.

Solution
Should be easy to check if the element already excist in the dom before creating it again.

Timeline progress not reflected by the player progress indicator.

Hey,

Let me start by saying this library and workflow tools are unlike anything I've ever seen before in terms of what's available for web animation libraries and you guys should be super proud of what you've accomplished! Props and thanks, makes me life as a dev much easier.

I'm using this tool in a React project (not sure if this has anything to do with React or not, but it seemed worth mentioning), as well as taking advantage of the mojs player and mojs curve editor. The curve editor works like magic, no problems there.

The player's start, stop and looping functionality are work as they should, but the progress indicator doesn't move when the animation is playing. It does however let me change the point in time in the animation if I click on it.

I attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing, and you can see the curve editor progress is accurately represented, but the player progress indicator isn't.

Any thoughts on what's going on here?

Here are some code snippets of my implementation:

import {Component} from 'react'
import ReactDOM from 'react-dom'
import mojs from 'mo-js';
import MojsPlayer from 'mojs-player';
import MojsCurveEditor from 'mojs-curve-editor';
