Installation:

go get -u github.com/mischief/goland/client
go get -u github.com/mischief/goland/server

Running:

Start the server:

cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/mischief/goland/server
./server

Start the client:

cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/mischief/goland/server
./client

Debugging:

Tail the logfiles.

Keybindings

Key	Action
w a s d	Move up, left, down, right respectively
h j k l	Move left, down, up, right respectively
,	Pickup items at your location
i	List inventory
x	Drop all inventory
ESC	Quit game, or exit chat mode
<enter>	Enter chat mode. ESC to exit, <enter> again to send, C-u to clear

Other notes

Currently, walking into another player will take all of their items.

new clients can't see flags after a player drops them

repro steps:

start server
start client 1, pickup flag
start client 2
client 1 drops flag
client 2 can't see flag but can walk over it.

figure out the source of corrupt strings in logs

strange log messages like

indicate something funny is going on inside the places those fields are populated.

client draws blanks when terminal is resized

Write a small language for user commands.

harmonize Inventory and GameObjectMap

maybe Inventory can embed a GameObjectMap to inherit its properties, and remove duplicated functionality.

Drawing Items (experimental branch feature/ctf)

Items within one's inventory should not be drawn on map. Have a separate buffer containing items and other game objects? A boolean flag whether to draw them or not?

server doesn't stop trying to send data to clients even after they connect

easy fix, remove the player from gamserver.DefaultSubject.Observers

Game is slow (sub 30 fps)

Should be ~60 fps for 100% unnoticeable smoothness. Like nethack.

Not sure if I overlooked something but could you specify a license for this project? For instance, GPL, MIT, Apache, ...
