I think the interaction might be a little easier if the touch screen were
used for panning and the trackball were used as a mouse.

Not setting the VNC password isn't an option for me, so until you support
it on your side, the app is useless _to_me_.  I'd love to be able to use
your VNC viewer, though.  Any idea when/if you'll be able to add this feature?

If the second monitor is disabled, so PC is only running a single monitor,
androidVNC seems to work as expected.

Some VNC servers (OS/X?) don't draw the cursor, and sometimes you just want
an extra dot to show where the cursor is.

Add an option to draw a representation of the cursor (probably a small XOR
rectangle)

1. try to connect to a host and specific port (which works when tested
using VNC Viewer on the desktop PC)

Server PC is running RealVNC Enterprise edition.

There are many keys you can send from a standard keyboard that are
difficult or impossible to send from a G1.  It would be nice if there were
some sort of Macro facility so you could set up key codes symbolically and
send them when needed from the menu.  Something like this was requested in
issue 9

Being able to use the trackball (on the g1 anyways) would be an excellent
way to use the mouse (add an option under settings maybe?) And pan around
using the screen. Use the trackball button as click and the search button
as right click.

Kinda use the g1 as an external mouse and keyboard with this -- great for
media center boxes.

I was also unable to install the featured apk.  I tried signing the package
myself with jarsigner and was still unable to install.

Would be nice if when you reconnect to an existing configuration it
restores the scaling, input mode and color mode you set last time you used it

comes back with connection error.

* Maingly useful to program a single key press to send complex key strokes
like "Alt+Right", "Alt+Left", etc.
* Users can have several shortcut tables that can be switched to when
connected to a machine.

* User would be able to have one shortcut table from controlling video
players, one for controlling presentations, etc.
* Could map all the keys on the left side to "seek back 10 secs" and those
on the right to "seek fwd 10 secs". Then the user won't have to look at the
keyboard when trying to control the video player.
* Same method for presentations.
* I'm sure there are many other cases where this will be useful.

Try to connect to an osx box with screensharing enabled (screen sharing of
osx is just a special vnc server).

the problem is the default colormodel. the osx server seems to have
problems with the C64 colormodel. 

i have attached a patch that contains the following changes:
- added the possibility to change the default colormodel in the connect dialog
- changed the layout of the connect dialog (because i did not want to
hassel with the x and y coordinates)
- added some experimental code to show a cross representing the mousecursor
on the client (i use xor mode, but unfortunately i did not get all updates
to the bitmaps, so depending on the bitmapupdates the crosshair produces
strange artifacts).

Subclipse  (be sure to include JavaHL if it's a fresh install)
Android SDK 1.0

Import from SVN source. 
You'll see you get some errors.

Change line 22 of android.androidVNC.VncCanvas.java from:
mbitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(rfb.framebufferWidth, rfb.framebufferHeight,
false);
To:
mbitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(mbitmap, rfb.framebufferWidth,
rfb.framebufferHeight, bytesPerPixel, bytesPerPixel, null, false);

I haven't taken the time to understand what that does it's just what
eclipse offers as a solution.

Finally edit the permissions in AndroidManifest.xml.
Add a user permission for android.permission.INTERNET

The settings of several VncConnections should be storeable.

In the best case a content provider should provide all stored settings and
the edit and view action on this content data type should trigger the
vnccanvas or the edit dialog activity.

this would lead to a vnccanvas activity that can easily be called from
other activities (probably in other apks).
