Setting up Jekyll on Windows

1. We use this easy to follow Jekyll on Windows guide. Use the pygments option when you go through the install.

Iterating on documentation

1. Using Command Prompt, from within the content folder start a local server: jekyll serve --watch
2. If prompted by the firewall, allow Jekyll to serve content
3. Open your web browser and point it to the local server. localhost:4000 is the default
4. Now you have your own version of the documentation site!
5. You can make changes to the pages using your favorite text editor.

Documentation rules

• For samples, please use Jekyll's Kramdown flavored Markdown to get nice formatting when rendered as a webpage.
• For README.md files, please use Github Flavored Markdown to get nice formatting on the file browser.
• Please do not use HTML
• For samples, please append {:target="_blank"}, so the link opens in a new page

HTTPS required for ACUR?

https://microsoftedge.github.io/WebAppsDocs/en-US/win10/CreateHWA.htm Step 5 shows using HTTP URIs when setting ACUR rules.

However, https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dn457654(v=vs.85).aspx implies that only HTTPS URIs are acceptable.

Which is it?

hook to onactivated event from the hosted website?

Is it possible to handle an activation event (e.g. file opened) from the javascript loaded in the hosted web site?

Template not installed in VS 2015 Enterprise Edition

In https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge/WebAppsDocs/blob/master/en-US/win10/CreateHWA.md, there is a reference to getting a blank JavaScript app. This does not seem to be available in Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition. You may want to add an aside that explains how to search for and/or install the necessary template.

Background tasks?

I'd like to have a background task that can update my pinned tiles but can't find any information on how to do this. The closest thing I've found was this blog: http://mcnextpost.com/2015/05/29/writing-windows-10-app-services-in-javascript/

Is there no way to have a background task that uses hosted code?

Turn on Touch Events in Edge

Is there a way to turn on Touch Events for Hosted Web Apps in Edge? It turns out that they are off by default. This is a showstopper.

Windows is undefined

I followed the tutorial precisely, however I am still not seeing the Windows object exposed to the hosted web site, e.g.

This is on Windows 10 with VS 2015 Community Edition. Under the Content URIs tab, I made sure to match the tutorial and include all WinRT access.

Unable to bring up the keyboard

Having tried this with the same CodePen example (http://codepen.io/seksenov/pen/wBbVyb/?editors=101)), the keyboard does not appear automatically when pressing in the CodePen.

I am using a Windows 10 tablet with a touchscreen - is there a way to force this to open?

redirecting to browser

Hello All,

While clicking on a tag it redirects me to browser but i want it should open that link inside the app.

please help me.

For Example i am using the same url and start page as given in example and while clicking on login it redirects me to browser link https://codepen.io/login

Demos menu dropdown does not work on HWAfeatures page

The drop down works on every other page. Likely a layout setting issue.
