Time Brush custom visual for PowerBI

TimeBrush

Time Brush lets you filter a time-based dataset by directly dragging or brushing over a time period of interest. The initial display is a helpful overview that shows the frequency of items in each pre-defined time bucket (e.g., hours, days, years) as a vertical bar chart. Whenever you select a time period, any linked visuals are automatically filtered to display only those records with time attributes in the selected period.

This visual is experimental and not actively being developed, only major issues will be addressed.

Usage

• Install node.js 6+
• Install yarn
• Run yarn on the project directory, which will install all the dependencies
• Run yarn test which will lint, test, and compile the timebrush and timebrush-powerbi packages.
  • Compiling timebrush-powerbi will also create a .pbiviz file in the packages/timebrush-powerbi/dist directory, which can be imported directly in Power BI

This repo is missing important files

There are important files that Microsoft projects should all have that are not present in this repository. A pull request has been opened to add the missing file(s). When the pr is merged this issue will be closed automatically.

Migrate to new API

Selection not cleared after data change (with appropriate setting set to On)

Selection on the visual is not cleared after data change (e.g. after date/time slicer filter change)- with appropriate setting set to On.

Clean up/refactor the sizing calculations for the axis/chart area.

Its really confusing right now, specially with the magic scaling.

Add Y-Axis Formatting Options

Simple for now:

• Have an On/Off option for the the Y-Axis (Default to Off)
• Have a Drop down to configure Left/Right side of the visual

Add zoom/pan cababilities

Pan and zoom would be very helpful here if the user is interested in short intervals of time within a long time frame. Right now it is very hard to select a particular week/day/hour of interest.

Use lodash modules instead of the kitchen sink

Delete .pbiviz binaries from existing source control versions

Generate a JUnit-format test-results.xml file for CI Test Reports

Add Value Tooltip when Hovering on Data Bars

On hover we should be able to see the value of a bar.

If possible use the powerbi tooltips, however simply adding a title to the rect element may suffice.

Add legend to TimeBrush when "Segmented By" is used.

Right now you have several colors making up the bars, but you have no context as to what each color is.

Migrate to new build system

Rendering is off on the Y-Axis labels

Seems to happen more on higher resolution devices.

README instructions failed

I went through the README following the directions on how to set up the repo for development, however when I ran npm run build I would keep getting the error that a build script was not found. Is the README outdated?

Y-Axis labels get cut off in PBI Desktop

Visual not displaying proper time values for specific area

visual fine for all the organization out India, who are so far the only affected users. The time parameter in the visual instead of showing the time like 9am, 10am, etc, shows 10, 10, 10. filtering while brushing works but visual parameter requires fix.

Change xAxis color from black to white

What is the .css file that is responsible for changing text color in xAxis? I need to change text color from black to white

Make consistent with all of the other visuals: Padding, Margin, Borders, Font Colors/Sizes...

Support negative rendering by rendering bars below the zero line.
