Sample site to test Google Analytics and GTM

Basic setup

1. If you don’t already have a gmail/Google account create one here: https://accounts.google.com/SignUp

2. Signup for a free Heroku account: https://signup.heroku.com/login

3. Install Heroku toolbelt - https://toolbelt.heroku.com/

4. Install any Plain Text editor or IDE. A popular editor (with a free trial) is Sublime Text: http://www.sublimetext.com/2

Deploy the project

Click on the button:

Download the repository locally

$ heroku git:clone -a [name of heroku app]

$ cd [name of heroku app]

$ sudo npm install

Run the web server

$ gulp

Edit the app

• Add Google Tag Manager snipet

Configure the container on Google Tag Manager

Basic tracking:

• Try tracking pages
• Try tracking link clicks
• Try tracking automatic event

Advanced topics

• Try adding data via the datalayer (browser window size, scrolling, etc.)
• Try implement a form validation method and send info about failed attempts
