Calculation for disk cache of assets on given line, leaves out the server to be used as an attack source to target CDNs, also will generate huge amount of traffic on both sides, countless number of temporary files (thanks to the md5)
A better url handler or url to filename to cache conversation should be implemented here. The current way of implementation is almost unacceptable. (except for intranet networks I guess.)

Also you can just use HAR format to save both response content (which can be binary via compression) and response headers.
