Refactor the application

What is the current behavior?


The application has inefficient, non-DRY, code.

What is the expected behavior?


The application should be efficient, modular, and DRY.

Add better authentication system

The application uses an email and password login for user authentication.

The application should use something like JWT or oAuth for user authentication.

Improve the client side styling

Add Angular or Vue frontend SPA

The front end of the application is a series of static HTML/CSS pages with vanilla JavaScript

The front end of the application should be an Angular or Vue SPA

If this issue is a question or feature request, what is the motivation / use case for changing the current behavior?


An Angular or Vue SPA on the front end would give users a nicer, more fluid experience.

Requesting a book generates event.srcElement is undefined error

What is the current behavior?


When the user attempts to request a book from the library, the application throws a TypeError: event.srcElement is undefined error

What is the expected behavior?


The application should not throw this error and the user should be able to successfully request to borrow a book from the library.

If the current behavior is a bug, please provide the steps to reproduce


Login to the application, go to the shared library page, click on one of the 'Request Book' buttons.

The error is being thrown from the books.js client side file.
