Nativefier YouTube on TV for Desktop

This app allows you to use YouTube.com/tv (the YouTube interface for smart tvs and digital video players like Roku) on a desktop computer. It sets the user agent to Roku to prevent YouTube from redirecting to the standard desktop website like it would in a normal browser. It can be navigated with the arrow, enter, and escape keys.

Note: nativefier-gui is not codesigned. Mac users will have to bypass gatekeeper to use it.

1. Right click the app and select open.

2. Click open.

How to build

Install Nativefier and run nativefier "https://youtube.com/tv" -u "Roku/DVP-9.10 (519.10E04111A)" -n "YouTube on TV" --electron-version $(npm show electron version).

The SUID sandbox helper binary was found

Trying to use this on a steamdeck throws out this error. Works on desktop mode but trying to launch the linux binary from steam or lutris fails

[75:1211/213701.616917:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(157)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /home/deck/Tools/YouTubeonTV-linux-x64/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.
Monitored process exited.
Initial process has exited (return code: 133)
All processes have quit
Exit with return code 133

Use in Game Mode for Steam Deck?

I've been trying to get this working on my Steam Deck. It does indeed work, but only in desktop mode. I've added it as a non-steam game, but it never works. Is there a way to get this working in game mode?

How to start it in fullscreen?

As title.

Latest build max resolution issue

Hi--love the app--However, On my 1080p screen on Linux Laptop and Windows Desktop, the app only offers 720p max. On my 720p TV, it only shows 480p max. Seems like it registers one step below the screen size.

Showing Ads even with YouTube Premium

When logged in with a YouTube Premium account, ads are still shown... Seems to be an issue with the TV WebApp. Is anybody else experiencing this too?

Fullscreen mode and/or Controller support?

Hi. Thanks for the great app, it's incredible that Google doesn't do this.

A couple of questions: Is it possible to run it in fullscreen mode? With no windows borders.

Do you have any plans for controller navigation support?

I'm running Windows 10, 64.

Quality Limited to 720p

• Device - Asus Laptop running Arch with i5 10th gen cpu
• Connected to ipad air 4 (2020) over tv code
• Occurs even when playing directly on the laptop
• Quality is limited to 720p for even 4k videos
• HDR only availble till 480p, 720p shows up as non HDR
