explain a tivo with Multi Room Viewing must be used, etc.

currently it just quits tivotool :\

When feeding the included Tivoserver with h264 video with AAC audio, the video 
converts 
perfectly well, but the audio is slowed down by about 2x. I've tried compiling 
a new version of 
new version of Tivoserver, but I've so far been unsuccessful. I think the issue 
is tivoserver's 
included ffmpeg's faad, which I've read is fixed in current versions.

Please add suggested questions (and answers if you know them) for inclusion
on the page. 

Some widgets were not visible or correctly drawn. This was on dirty install 
(existing prefs.)

I've attached an image of the TivoTool index (and my log file.) The two entries 
at the bottom of the 
index are movies. As you can see the info is badly scrambled. TivoTool crashes 
when these files are 
played.

The two movies were recorded two months apart on different channels, and they 
work fine on the 
Tivo inself. All the scrambled records are movies. I recorded a two hour show a 
week ago and it 
worked fine. 

Tivotool quits in 10.4.11 when trying to download.

hdemux 0.13 as included has HD content compatibility problems.  hdemux 0.15 has 
fixed many of 
those issues.  Please consider updating the included version of hdemux to 0.15. 
 hdemux cannot be 
downloaded in source version (at least publically) now, so most users can't do 
the update 
themselves.

The progress indicator / slider is all over the place for me. I drag it and it 
hops around randomly. 
Some clips start out with the indicator in the middle, etc. Seems very 
sporadic. I have a Series 2 
DirecTiVo with the latest vserver.

With TivoTool 0.6.1 running under 10.4.7 on my 17" MBP talking to my hacked 
Series 2 
DirectTivo running 6.2, the "Duration" is reported incorrectly. Specifically, 
the ID_LENGTH 
reported by mplayer is incorrect (as the comments in the code said it might 
be). I also noticed 
that there was a Duration tag in the XML dump. 

So, in the attached diff, I had the Record::fill_size method grab the Duration, 
and then only use 
the mplayer ID_LENGTH if the Duration tag was missing. (Actually, I just 
uncommented it) Oh, 
and I also made a minor tweek to Inspector.pm to report the length in hours 
minutes and 
seconds.

I've only got this one Tivo to test against, so please test against a SA before 
merging!  That is, of 
course, if you want to accept the change! :-)

This issue will track progress on a universal binary version of tivotool. 

crash message "Handle not defined"

Is it possible to consolidate the TivoTool files into the application package 
or at least in Application 
Support? Otherwise, uninstallation becomes rather complex, especially for the 
wx packages. wxPerl 
in particular modifies a file in /System, which makes me nervous as it is 
replacing a system file (yes, 
a text file - still).

Similarly, since the executables for TivoTool's helpers (tivoserver et al) are 
in Application Support/
TivoTool, could the libraries in /usr/local/lib (libfaac, et al) be moved there 
as well to not conflict 
with already-installed files? This should be doable with some flags to the 
linker/compiler.

organize and word the GUI in such a way that users understand mpeg2-based
formats (Everything but mp4 and avi) aren't processed, simply converted, so
no processing can or is done on the picture. 

Clicking the red X globe in the corner causes a crash. Hitting esc to close
seems to be more stable. Closing the control GUI seems more stable. Why
does this method of closing the player crash it?

Some sort if indeterminate progress bar would be nice to show that app isn't 
hung when refreshing 
show listing.

When I try to open TivoTool 0.6.0, the icon bounces in the dock but then 
disappears.  The

I'm running 10.4.7 on a Powerbook G4

possibly also rename "stop" to "skip" and have stop-all functionality on
button called "stop"

0.6.1, core duo mini, 10.4.8.  If you change the save location in
preferences->save location, Tivotool doesn't use the new location until
after a restart.

Running the installer failed- after authentication.

The install dialog displayed 'There were errors installing the software', 
'please try installing again'.

See the attached install log.

I did have an older version of TivoTool installed, so after the initial failure 
I dragged the TivoTool 
icon to the trash and ran the install again. This time the installer decided to 
do an upgrade (2nd run 
in the attached install log) and it failed for the same reason.

Looking at the log, it seems cpio can't extract the files

First run with 0.60 on a 17" MBP running 10.4.7. (though many sucessful runs 
with previos versions)

Configured the addr of my tivo, refreshed the show list, selected a show and 
hit Add to iTunes.

Downloaded the file fine to my desktop and converted to mp4. No problems at 
all. 

Unfortunately, the add to iTunes failed miserably. Check out the end of 
tivotool.log

To facilitate full decsriptions etc upon re-insertion via tivoserver, it
would be great to have an option to have the show xml downloaded with every
show.  format should be <same name as video file>.xml.

V0.6.0 download a full show (1hr) for mpg but when it muxes the .m2a and .m2v 
files only get 1.2M 
of info

I updated my Tivo to version 6.2a - afterwards playback from vserver always 
stops about 1/2 way 
thru the show.

Download to mpeg2 is fine. Only streaming seems to be effected.

cron daemon is mailing the user in their unix spool after each run. 

Audio is in sync when streaming a file, but out of sync when the same file is 
saved as an MPG2

In ttmplayer, when streaming, I am unable to pause video by pressing my space 
bar.  The video 
temporarily stutters, then resumes playback.  If I pause by clicking pause, 
then use the space bar, 
the pause function will sometimes work.

After upgrading from 0.5.7 to 0.6.0, I am unable to get vserver working.  It 
worked fine, when 
launching remotely in 0.5.7, but now fails to see vserver, and gives me 
response "vserver not 
found at 192.168.0.200"  Where should vserver live on the tivo for 0.6.0 to 
recognize it?  It 
worked fine in 0.5.7...

TivoTool quits when trying to download a file with OS X 10.4.8

I use vsplit to extract mpeg2 from my DTivo S2 because of audio sync issues
with hdemux.  Using 0.5.7, no problems.  Using 0.6.0 the download stops at
3375MB.  (Big files, football games).

Tivotool crashes directly after starting when running on Snow Leopard release 
of Mac OS X.

When opening a file saved in MPEG-4 with version .61 of Tivo Tool quicktime
reports an error and is unable to open the file.  

Appears to only happen on Macs with intel processors.
