#Web Performance and Compatibility Lab A lab for checking and fixing modern web interoperability issues on a simple front-end website. The lab looks at Microsoft Edge specifically but the principles applies to interoperability and compatibility with all modern browsers. The lab also features an exercise on improving front-end performance.

Written as a front-end lab that can be executed on any operating system with any editing software, though Visual Studio Code is the editor used in the instructions.

This lab is designed to accompany by Martin Kearn's 'Web Performance and Compatibility' talk, but feel free to use it in isolation.

This lab includes the following tasks.

1. PC Setup
2. Azure Setup
3. Modern web interoperability
4. Performance optimisation and tuning

Font awesome breaks when the css is bundled

Documentation Issue

In the Setup section it states "You may already have som of this software on your machine" - should read "some"

Azure storage does not have compression enabled

In the performance lab, when the files get moved to azure storage, the scores get worse (I think because compression is not enabled on azure storage).

Suggestion - Expand on Azure Web App Service

"This is very easy to do with Azure Web App Service and the source integration feature, you simply commit to GitHub, VSO or whatever source control system you are using and the site gets deployed"

it would be helpful to expand this a little to explain the quickest / simplest way to do this if I have / don't have an Azure subscription. Can I use the "try it" feature at the link you've mentioned? If so, which options should I select? If not, say so. If I have an Azure subscription do I just create a new web app service and then hook that to GitHub / VSO via the Azure portal? Just a little bit of guidance to point me in the right direction would be helpful.
