maputnik.github.io's Issues

Convert style to openstreetmap-carto's one

I would like to use my personal style to render tiles using openstreetmap-tile-server.
A recent development makes it possible, by mounting the personal style's .lua, .style, .mml files.
Is it possible to convert your .json file in such configuration files?
I am a totally new to this world, so please excuse me if the question is trivial.

New design

I think maputnik deserves a new homepage, showing it off a little more. I'm raising this ticket to start the discussion.

Here's what I think it should have

  • A big screenshot showing off the app
  • Features, showing why should people use it.
  • Show off some existing open source styles which people can modify as an easy starting point.

Add message to Maputnik URL to avoid 404 message for people unaware of MapLibre transition

It may be useful to have a message pop up for Maputnik users in the (now) old editor site URL.

I wasn't aware there was a transition to MapLibre (yay!) and when trying to dive back into stylework in the Maptunik editor I was confused about the editor not working and assumed there was work being done and kept circling back later (clearly there was!)

Maybe on https://maputnik.github.io/editor page just a simple "Maputnik has moved to MapLibre! head over to this URL instead: https://maplibre.org/maputnik "

Update description

Currently it states:
description

Maputnik is a free visual style editor for maps targeted at developers and designers.

Add at least that Maputnik is a visual style editor for the Mapbox style specification and maybe link to the spec.

We need to get better at explaining what Maputnik is
