symbolarteditoronline's Issues

Would be nice to have a option to resize for Alliance Flags.

So I needed to create an Alliance Flag and tried to use SymbolArtEditor but the size are only for Symbol Arts. I know it was only for Symbol arts but Alliance Flags can also be imported in the game in a similar way. So I'm suggesting to add an option for Alliance Flags.

Setting the symbol color with a Group selected hue-shifts all the symbols

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add a few symbols into a Group with a particular color
  2. Select the Group
  3. Set the color while the Group is selected

Expected: should set the color of all the symbols in the group to the selected color

Actual behavior: seems to hue-shift everything based on what you've selected?

Additionally, the color choice when selecting a group is shown as the default red color.

Selection color unchanged:

Notice I've selected light blue here, but the actual color is much darker:

Team Flag Symbol limit

First of all, thank you very much for your work, i really enjoy using this. After used your SA Editor for more than 2 weeks, i find that it's a lot easier to Trace the picture into SA but i also find that click and hold function to select not work excactly as expect, hit and missed a lot. Many times i just want to move or edit a symbol but miss hit navigator then lost the control and have to go back to side view to select again. So i think if there is a way to disable "click and hold to select" function.

Second, the main issue i want to talk is the limit of symbol in Team Flag, as i can see it only 25 symbols limit even though ingame is 225, same as standard. So i want to ask that did i miss some setting ? or how does actually the team flag function work ?

Thank you for your attention and sorry for my English

Blank art

Upon saving the symbol art in SAR format, and saving in to the correct directory, trying to import in to the game just results in a blank symbol art

help : reducing size of the whole symbol

i made a png drawing for pso2 and then i used a bunch of symbols to re-create the drawing. i wanted to use it for a clan symbol.. but now its waayyy to big. and i see when ya select the main folder that you can move it around the whole symbol art.. but is there anyway to reduce the size as a whole symbol ??

Toggling transparency

I don't know if it's because the picture I used, the picture itself is 192*96, but after I upload the picture, the transparency was not changed at all. The transparency slide is like a switch, it's either fully transparent or it's solid and can not be seen through.

Exporting as a PNG

Hi there,

I was curious if there were any plans to ever add back the ability to export a Symbol Art as a PNG. I tried creating a Python script that did this exact thing (using your JS as a template) but it was a bit harder than I expected. If not that is fine, it was a feature on the older version so I was curious. Thanks!

PNG export adds additional black padding

Using this as an example
https://wikiwiki.jp/pso2sa/sa13#sa46
When you export an imported .sar or .saml file as a .png you get a small black boarder spanning the top and left sides.
御坂みこと
The output image size is 576x288 which is still a multiple of 192x96 but I am unsure where it is cutting the image off at (eyeballing it, I cannot see if it is shifting it or just setting the sides to black).

RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded when trying to upload .saml file

I was under the process of making SA and as the readme suggests, I want to save my progress so I download my progress as the .saml file.

To verify the downloaded file, I open another tab and upload back the file and it results in possibly infinite loop/recursion.

The same SA but .sar seems to work fine though.

just in case you need this, it's the .saml file of under progress SA.

Unable to import saved .sar file into PSO2

Great tool, thx. Isssue: Once I've downloaded the symbol art, I place the file in the import folder. Click import in game, click the image and try to save it to a slot. I get the follow error code from pso2 Na server. "Unable to save because the symbol art data is invalid. [No.1210] .

Any idea ? I downloaded it using google chrome. I see it in game but it won't allow me to save it to a slot.

Add imported layer to group?

Hi, thanks for making this available to the community. After importing a Screenart to begin editing, I can create a group, but I cannot seem to add the imported layers to it.

I want to use this tool to group layers so that I can move them around in my design

.SAR Does Not Import

Clicking the + icon to import a proper .sar file, it will not rebuild itself in the editor as it used to.

I've built a total of 10 SA's using this tool. It's 1,000% useful. Please look into this.

"i" key function becomes unusable if typed while renaming layer

"i" currently functions to temporarily change the transparency of the background/reference image. If you rename a layer that has "i" in the name, the background is set as if the "i" key is being held down constantly.

The background can still be changed by editing it normally to set the transparency but the "i" key functionality is lost until the page is reloaded.

Can't Change Color

When selecting a symbol and attempting to change the color via the menu in the bottom-right, nothing changes. All symbols I add are stuck as white.

Overlay Image

Hello!

I'm having issues with the overlay image. When I open the overlay image to use as a reference, it is ridiculously dark and hard to see. I'm not sure why it's so dark, because the image in the gif for the tutorial looks normal when transparent. This goes for all images I post, and I'm not sure if that's what it's supposed to do or not because it makes referencing it very hard...

Here's some examples with some of my art that I'm trying to use:
What it looks like when I upload it.
RAEG What it's supposed to look like.

Another example of what it looks like when I upload it.
Vs what it's supposed to look like.

I just wasn't sure if this is what it's supposed to be like or not. :( If it is then that's fine, I can just lighten it up in my art program and try it that way, but just in case this isn't intentional I thought I'd say something.

What's weird is that before it did this, I had hardware acceleration turned off and it was totally fine. Obviously I couldn't change the color of symbols or do transparency but when I turned on hardware acceleration, the overlay image turned super dark like that.

Here's what it looks like with hardware acceleration turned off, albeit a bit more funky looking with those lines and stuff.

When I turn it back on, it goes back to being dark.

Thanks so much for reading!

Edit: Looking at it again, it looks like not only is the image I upload darker than usual, but the colors itself appear darker than they actually are. So this seems to be not only an image with the overlay but with the colors appearing darker in general. Again, not sure if it's something on my end or with the editor itself...

Example:

The color in the picker is lighter than what actually appears in the editor itself.

Another example, with the color in the picker, again, being lighter than the color on the editor.

Incorrect colors.

I've been struggling with an issue where colors in this editor appear darker than ingame colors, and it seems to be a result of colors not saving correctly. See the following example.

These three circles were set to colors #000000, #ffffff, and #006600 respectively.

Symbol Art

However, the generated saml file, as well as the sar file, had these colors changed to #606060, #fcfcfc, and #5ba75b.

Even stranger is when loading from the exported saml or sar files, colors appear to be what they were set as originally until the symbol is selected and the color picker opened and closed.

Legacy Download or Access

Is there a method to download or at least access the old version. I cannot understand how to edit entirely in 2d. This new version is incredibly tedious to navigate.
It also does not allow for quick drawing at all with the symbols it took me 5 minutes to do 3 symbols which would have taken me 15 seconds on the old version.
Is there a method to edit completely without the 3d view? The 3D side view makes the entire workflow impossible to follow and groups are extraordinarily unclear. Unless I am missing something I don't understand the direction you are taking the editor at all.

Survey about Open Source Image editors for Master's thesis

Hello,

My name is Anupama Nedungadi and I am a Master’s student at the University of Geneva. For my thesis, I am looking at internationalization and localization practices in open source image editors, meaning how and why (or why not) the software has been translated into another language.
I have curated a list of image editors, graphic editors and the likes hosted on SourceForge, GitHub and GitLab, and this list includes your software malulleybovo/SymbolArtEditorOnline.

I am contacting you to ask for your participation in a survey. This is a key element of my Master’s thesis. I am aware of the fact that we don't know each other and that you don't owe me anything, but I am really dependent on your help since my topic is quite niche. I also believe we should shine a spotlight on open source software and its translation in particular, as little research has been done in this area recently.

The survey will be open until the 16th of June 2021, and it should only take you around 10 minutes as most questions are multiple choice. Your answers will be anonymous.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read this email and helping a slightly stressed student out!

Best regards,
Anupama Nedungadi
