raspberry-pi-cm4-tv-stick's Issues

Skip boot mode

How do I flash the emmc on this board? I've tried moving the switch to "C" position on the board and connecting USB-C cable directly to the computer. Nothing happends on RPI-Boot? Should I add another usb cable to Usb-A...?

RPIboot not recognizing CM4 w/ mmc as USB device following Home Assistant installation

Hello! I've been using different versions of raspberry pi OS on my CM4 with mmc with the TV stick with no problems. However, I'm having issues post installing Home Assistant OS (https://www.home-assistant.io/).

Because the carrier board does not have an ethernet, the OS is stuck in a rebooting loop forever. Obviously, I need to configure the OS or reinstall the OS, but since installing this OS, the device will no longer appear on my Windows PC via RPIBoot (https://github.com/raspberrypi/usbboot).

So, why am I posting here? I cannot tell if its an issue with the use of the TV stick with RPIBoot or if the OS has fundamentally changed the PI behavior because now it just seems bricked. Can you help me rule out the TV stick carrier board as the cause of this problem?

The process I use is:

  1. Launch RPIBoot on the Windows PC
  2. Press and hold the button on the carrier board
  3. Plug in the USB cable
  4. Release the button
  5. Then, nothing happens, where before, it would appear as a USB storage device.

(I've reached out to Home Assistant support for this too, but it seemed worth posting in both places)

How to use the SD slot on a CM4 with EMMC

I see the warning about using an SD card with CM4 units with emmc - I'm curious to learn more about the problem here. The only CM4s available in my area with WiFi also had EMMC, but it was my intent to use this board with an SD card (given the limitations of the CM$ on board storage anyway, I always needed something much larger). I could use some kind of external storage device, but it vexes me to tack on a huge external drive with the SD card port just sitting right there looking at me.

That being said, is there anything that can be done to the carrier board or the CM4 itself that can get around the risk you posted?
