Dataviz of Covid data in Ecuador

Hi there, I am Lorena! 👋

I am PhD researcher working with geospatial technologies.

• 🔎 I’m currently working as a researcher at the Risk, Hazard & Climate Lab and the EO-Analytics Lab of the Z_GIS department at the University of Salzburg
  • 🌍 My PhD research is focused on the use of big EO data and remote sensing methods to map and monitor geomorphological processes and landscape dynamcis.

Change code to adapt to new source structure

Commit pablora19/COVID19_EC@40e340b changed the files structure to add a national summary. Code needs to be adapted before any updates are possible.

To-do:

• Adapt code
• Wait for addition back of casos_confirmados column by Canton (refs pablora19/COVID19_EC#16)

Data inconsistency from official sources - stop updates

Due to data inconsistency, updating the site is not possible until further notice.

Change number of cases viz from choropleth to labelled polygons

Change this bad visualization practice on the site.

Source data from official repository

Offical data up to the 23/04 is available here (finally!). Several issues:

• Dissaggregation level only up to Canton level, even if their dashboard shows Parroquias.
• Several other data bits from the dashboard are missing on the database like Institution and Occupational Group.
• Obviously outdated and the new way of presenting data from the government infographs (dividing cases by type of test) is not promising.

Hola, junto con una organización sin fines de lucro se está centralizando la información de contagiados/muertos/recuperados covid-19 de todos los páises de latinoamérica. Asímismo, usamos ISO 3166-2 para el código de departamentos/provincias/regiones de cada país. La información se actualiza frecuentemente.
