The latest commit should fix it. I have hard-coded the path to icon file in the app to the previously mentioned path. Check and let me know.

In my system (Linux Mint Cinnamon), the icon is never shown in the window. So its absence is not detectable either. Previously the icon was absent in Cinnamon panel (taskbar), which was fixed after editing .desktop file.
Someone with KDE or LXDE please try this.

The trying will only work if it is installed via Debian. I have not figured out the way to show the icon if someone just downloads and extracts the source and then uses it.

Someone please install latest version from the PPA ( https://launchpad.net/~apandada1/+archive/ubuntu/brightness-controller/), download the source from https://github.com/LordAmit/Brightness, and test it.
