Brightness value is saved in the HTML version. I have figured out why I could not send pull request to "html" branch -- my branch was created before @LordAmit did.
So I'll have to delete my fork, fork this repo again, push commits, and send a pull request.

Features of html version (2.1, maybe..)

1. Easy to design
2. Brightness values are remembered
3. I can compile and upload to PPA using a single command.
4. There is a "Master Control" feature for controlling any number of displays.

Drawbacks

1. Performance is a little slower.
2. It cannot detect the number of connected displays (but there is "Master Control")

I have realized why I could not send pull to the html branch. @LordAmit Delete the current html branch and make 'html' a new empty branch with no commit history.
"git checkout --orphan HTML" or something like that.

Creating an orphan branch will still require making some files, then committing it to origin branch.
I created an orphan branch. But you will have to clone it, then merge it with your current changes, then push it back to html I guess.

I've added a tray icon to the app. This will help in keeping the app runnning in the background and hence preserve the settings. This might not completely resolve the issue but it helps.

Pull request has been made for this tray icon branch. @LordAmit Please accept the request.

UPDATE: I've now created a new issue for adding tray icon.
