ifs's Issues

Writing disk packs and general confusion.

From ContrAlto I can load ftp and get a connection to the server (i think) . I have the file nonprog.bfs!16 in the bootroot directory on the IFS server. How can i go from a raw disk image to a bootable disk pack. Also should i have ContrAlto running on the machine i am using as the IFS Server in the same directory as IFS.EXE or should everything work through IFS.EXE (I have no idea what i am doing). Also when i created an account (i think i did) no folder apppered in the ftproot directory. Is this meant to happen and what am i doing wrong?

Smalltalk-76 support question

Does this support Smalltalk-76 images on ContrAlto?

ST76 has IFS support but the comments in the source refer to the "leaf protocol" which doesn't seem to be mentioned here. See here for the source.

Storing files with ftp.

Sorry to bother you again,

When I created my account with the command console it never created me a home directory. It should have at C:\ifs\ftp\MB but it did not. I manually created one with the same name as I specified. When I tried to store a file on the server (which is running on the same computer) I got a message (in ftp) stating that '< This account is not allowed to store files here'. I tried storing them at C:\ifs\ftp and c:\ifs\ftp\MB. I was logged in and I can retrieve files fine. Why can't I store files?

Network Card Detection

I have tried IFS with 2 computers and 3 network adapters (Ethernet, PCI WIFI Card and a USB WIFI dongle) and everytime i try to run IFS i get this error
'Unhandled Exception: IFS.InvalidConfigurationException: The specified network in
terface (Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection 2) is invalid or unusable by IFS.
at IFS.Entrypoint.RegisterInterface()
at IFS.Entrypoint.Main(String[] args)'
and then the program crashes.

I have uploaded the current config files
Conf.zip

Disk issues

I have an IFS Server setup and typing it's name into ftp gives a response so i assume the Alto is connecting successfully however the server seems to be behaving weirdly:

  1. It seems to never quit and just says shutting down please wait forever
  2. The alto can't seem to boot from the files in the boot directory

Also i have a raw file for the Basic non programmers disk (from http://xeroxalto.computerhistory.org/_cd8_/basicdisks/.index.html) - how can i create a disk pack to boot the alto.

Logging in with Laurel

I have an account on my IFS server. The Laurel tutorial says to login by clicking the User command then typing your Username and Password. Accepting the default username and entering in my password does not work and just my username (without the automatically added .PA registry name) also does not work. What do I do?
