Add target

The core idea of the game is the player shoots at a target. I think it'd be simplest to have it be a balloon that pops when hit by a bullet. We need a sprite for a target (could be a template at first) and then collision handling for bullet-on-target. The target should be placed in the map with Tiled. Maybe some maps can also have multiple targets.

Sound effects

While not necessarily needed, a game feels a lot more responsive and complete when it has sound. This can include mouse clicks in the (future) gui, shots from the howlitzer, hitting the target, finishing the level, etc. Make sure each asset is licensed for free use. Freesound is a good place to look for them.

Get terrain assets

We need to get blocks that will build the map. I think 8x8 tiles would work best personally. We should decide on a setting, but my vote goes for a grassy hillside with grass blocks, rocks, and dirt.

gameplay mechanic + goal of game

mine is:
shooting a bullet into a bucket with obstructions for the player to navigate around/destroy in between.

goal: having the bullet in the bucket = clearing the level.

Add GUI

A gui should include a play button scene and a level selector. I think the selector should also show the player score, as well as the levels. A locking system would be good too, so the player must go through all previous levels before they can advance to the next.

Create levels with Tiled

Once we have the assets for blocks, we need to make the levels. Download the Tiled map editor, copy paste the template tmx, and edit to make a new level. I think we should have at least 5 levels, but more is always good.

Add background song

Background songs can set the mood for the game and tend to increase the feel of production quality. We can either make one in a program like Bosca Ceoil or use a free license one.

Brainstorm Ideas for the game

We need to come up with ideas for the game, once the theme drops. Once we have a rough idea on the mechanics, setting, and style, we can start splitting up the work.
