app-s2p's Issues

Perl #90134: s2p doesn't understand sed anymore

(This is from Perl 90134.)

This is accepted by sed:

% sed -ne 'G; s/\n/&&/; /^\([ ~-]*\n\).*\n\1/d; s/\n//; h;'

But not by s2p:

% s2p -ne 'G; s/\n/&&/; /^\([ ~-]*\n\).*\n\1/d; s/\n//; h;'
s2p: expression #1: extra characters after command (; s/\n/&&/; /^\([ ~-]*\n\).*\n\1/d; s/\n//; h;)
Exit 1
% s2p -ne 'G;s/\n/&&/;/^\([ ~-]*\n\).*\n\1/d;s/\n//;h;'
s2p: expression #1: extra characters after command (;s/\n/&&/;/^\([ ~-]*\n\).*\n\1/d;s/\n//;h;)
Exit 1

--tom

s2p(1) produces non-equivalent perl for simple sed substitution, RT#115156

From [email protected]

Compare

  $ sed 's/c*$/x/g' <<<abc
  abx
  $ s2p 's/c*$/x/g' | perl - <(echo abc)
  abxx
  $

sed's behaviour is correct for sed. The Perl that s2p(1) produces
doesn't do the equivalent substitution, instead matching zero c's and
the end of the string after the first substitution of c by x.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/perl/+bug/1008584 is my
original, as yet not confirmed, bug report.
