s3-browser-upload-demo's Introduction

Minimal demo of S3 browser upload

This is a supplement to the Demystifying S3 browser upload article.

How to run

You will need Node.js.

Get an AWS account, create an S3 bucket, generate a key pair (refer to the article for details), then run:

env S3_ACCESS_KEY=xxx S3_SECRET_KEY=xxx S3_BUCKET=xxx S3_REGION=xxx node server.js

and finally open http://localhost:5000 in your browser.

s3-browser-upload-demo's Issues

Do I need a back end?

Hey I am new to s3 and I just read your article.

I am working on an electron app and want to do an upload from the front end, however after reading your article this line confused me:

I found it most convenient to have the backend prepare the entire set of parameters

Does this mean a Node backend is required?

Cheers.

Right content-type

Hi,

I cloned your project and everything is working, excepted one thing: content-type on S3. Each uploaded file's content-type is set to binary/octet-stream. How to put correct content-type?

How to work with folders?

Thanks for this great sample!

How do i implement uploading directly to folders within a bucket in S3?
