Lens Protocol

The Lens Protocol is a decentralized, non-custodial social graph. Lens implements unique, on-chain social interaction mechanisms analogous to commonly understood Web2 social media interactions, but significantly expanded with unique functionality that empower communities to form and participants to own their own social graph.

Setup

1. Clone the Repository

git clone [email protected]:lens-protocol/core.git

2. Install Foundry

Follow the instructions from their repository or just do:

curl -L https://foundry.paradigm.xyz | bash

foundryup

3. Install dependencies in submodules

You can do it either with forge:

forge install

or directly with git:

git submodule update --init --recursive

4. Create Your .env File

Copy the .env.example file into .env and fill the necessary fields:

# Forking setup (uncomment to test using a fork)

If you just want to test locally without a fork, then you can skip this step.

5. Build

You can compile the project using:

forge build

You may notice a warning about some files exceeding code size.

To avoid the warning, you can compile Via IR but it will take more time:

forge build --via-ir

6. Test

You can run unit tests using:

forge test

To run the tests on a fork you need to fill the .env file from the step above, and uncomment the TESTING_FORK variables.

7. Coverage

You can run coverage using:

forge coverage

lips's Issues

Separate model service from the model itself

represent a service as a separate entity from the model itself.

Service metadata might have the pointer to the model metadata, but should not contain duplicated md fields from the metadata of a model.

What I should think the service metadata should contain:

Service MD should contain only administrative things related to the service so that it's not repeated:

serviceId
modelId - all the metadata can be extracted (assuming we have a registry for models)
interval (in minutes) - 0 means updates on request.
performance

Motivation:
In my project, all models will be registered in an immutable registry, containing very detailed metadata, and services will be deployed running those models. It makes sense to separate these entities one from another.

This issue is meant to initiate conversation - since we currently don't have a chat to discuss these things.

Open lens to public

Suggestion to open lens for public use,It have been tied to limited users for years ,seen ton of apps being build on lens but need more users to have diversity of content on the platform it could be algorithm side but is majorly dependent on user side, as per the development status of the lens I think it's ready for public use

Make Profile Picture (Lenny) the default PFP for all new profiles.

Proposed Change

Now that we have the new Lenny Profile Images i think it would be cool to make it the default PFP for all new profiles. This would make Lens more colorful and would lead to less empty profile pictures and nicer looking apps and profiles across all apps.

Multichain Lens

Proposed Change

To enhance the Lens protocol for multichain compatibility, several proposals can be considered:

Cross-Chain Communication: Implementing a mechanism for cross-chain communication would allow Lens to interact with different blockchain networks seamlessly. This can involve building bridges or interoperability protocols to facilitate asset transfers and data exchange between different chains.

Native Multichain Support: Integrate native support for multiple blockchain networks within the Lens protocol itself. This would involve modifying the protocol architecture to accommodate different consensus mechanisms, smart contract languages, and other blockchain-specific features.

Standardization: Advocate for or contribute to the development of standards for multichain interoperability. This could involve collaborating with other projects and organizations working on similar initiatives to establish common protocols and interfaces for interacting with multiple blockchains.
