bash-tutorial's Issues

Some letters not bolded correctly

"The most common command you'll probably use is piping the process list to grep to search for a running program." The "p" is bold but the "s" is not.

review / make clearer

as per Carley's feedback:
-be a little more handholding throughout the whole thing
-think about getting rid of the last part about bash profile and the more complicated stuff. not super necessary

All terminal examples assume a Mac

I am using a Windows PC, and can follow the examples, but so far I have been asked to open a Terminal window a few times to try things out...but Mac's Terminal and the Windows Command Prompt use different languages.

For instance, the command "pwd" does not work in a Windows command prompt; neither does LS (dir works instead).

Perhaps it should be made more clear. This line, for instance, doesn't work for someone using a Windows PC:

Open up command prompt or terminal. Type in: pwd and hit return.

Typo

In the bash tutorial section, I believe there's a typo in this paragraph:

Single-character options can typically be combined with each other may also have suffixes. For example, in the ls command, h is a suffix on the l flag meaning "human readable formats." They can be combined with a meaning "all information including permissions". Try these three together:

Should it instead be Single-character options can typically be combined with each other. For example, in the ls command....?

Markdown not recognizing bold

In the section on piping the word processes is supposed to bold the p and the r. However, it looks like this 'proce_s_s' with the p bold and the s surrounded by asterisks. I'm not sure how to fix it.

MacOS

I notice that the instruction exclusively pertains to MacOS machines and I'm on windows.

Is there a version of this curriculum that's more windows-friendly?
