Do you have Visual Studio Track changes enabled?

I think you use Git-Source-Control-Provider at the same time than GitDiffMargin!

No I haven't. I also tested unchecking 'Selection Margin', which yields the 'Track changes' disabled, and hides a small margin in between the line numbers and the diff margin most to the right. So I'd guess Track Changes is using that margin, and it's not the one GitDiffMargin uses.
Moreover I just noticed both indicators behave differently:

leftmargin
rightmargin

The left one is GitDiffMargin. The right one is Git Source Control Provider. You should change the options for the latter to disable the bundled feature of you have both installed.

Thanks, that did the trick. So Git Source Control Provider is basically oboslete now, since MS Git Source Control Provide does the same, and GitDiffMargin can use it now?

GitDiffMargin was always able to work with MS Git Source Control Provider

lol, can't believe I missed that

@stinos The primary difference I notice (on a daily basis) is Git Source Control Provider does a better job of choosing glyphs for files that are staged, but not yet committed. The MS Git provider uses the same glyph for staged and unstaged files.
