lisp-game-of-life's Introduction

The Game of Life by John Conway

The Game of Life is not your typical computer game. It is a 'cellular automaton', and was invented by Cambridge mathematician John Conway.

The Rules

  • For a cell that is 'alive':
    • Each cell with one or no neighbors dies, as if by solitude.
    • Each cell with four or more neighbors dies, as if by overpopulation.
    • Each cell with two or three neighbors survives.
  • For a cell that is 'dead':
    • Each cell with three neighbors becomes 'alive', as if by birth.
