Geotrain is a train layout designer / maker by François CREVOLA

This software was mostly inspired by the Geotrax (Rail & Road System) toys from Fisher Price.

So, you will find some tracks you are already familiar with, as well as new tracks. In fact, my idea is mostly to simulate "new" kind of tracks that I don't own or that doesn't exists in real life.

Contributing workflow

If you want to contribute a change, a feature, a fix or whatever... follow this steps:

1. Fork this project to your account.
2. Create a branch for the change you intend to make.
3. Make your changes to your fork.
4. Send a pull request from your fork’s branch to our master branch.

Please respect the following rules :

• Use UTF-8 encoding for all the files (.js, .html, ...)
• Use Unix line ending (LF)
• Use 2-spaces indentation (and don't use tabs)
• Use english for function name, variable name, comments.

If you just want to suggest an idea or report a problem, please create an issue.

Allow moving the grid by pressing spacebar and move the mouse around

Feature request:

It would be nice to be able to move the grid faster then with the current arrow keys.
If u press Spacebar and move the mouse around.... the grid will follow the mouse movement.

(Be able to) rotate tracks by any angle (1°, 5°, 30°, 45°, 60°, ..... anything)

Add the possibility to change the active path for track switches by clicking on them.

It would be a great addition if we could decide which path is active for track switches. A track switch has an active and an inactive path. You can change the active path from a track switch by clicking on it.

Be able to choose / change color for each track.

Be able to choose a different color for each track. Currently, when pressing "C" key, tracks are colored in brown. Would be nice to have green, grey, ... for example in Geotrax road are grey, some are green, ....

Allow to create subsections of a train path and define a color which shows if the track is occupied.

It would be great to create subsections of traintracks. Those subsections have the possibility to change their color whether the track is occupied or whether it is free. This could be achieved by grouping track pieces. If I set group1=green all tracks belonging to this group change color.

Add a track menu to select different type of tracks

It would be great to have a kind of a menue on the left side where we can select the used track type.

Add 30°, 45°, ... turns

Feature request for train rides

I have created a concept for automatic train rides.

Let´s say the train on the left side has the destination Block 2. If u start the automatic ride, train 1 should be able to detect the available Blocks in the current direction. It should get back that Block 1 and Block 2 is available Block 2 is occupied and Block 1 is free. But to be able to start driving to Block 2 the system should detect that switch 1 has to be switched to be able to start driving to Block 2. As soon as switch 1 has switched, train 1 will reserve Block 2. once Block 2 is successfully reserved. Train 1 starts driving to Block 2. Once it reaches Block 2, Block 2 gets occupied.
