Oddyssey

The project is an open world roguelike game using PYGUSES. The goal is to create a vivid procedually-generated open-world environment for player to interact. And the world keep on simulation while the game progresses.

Getting Started

These instructions will get you a copy of the project up and running on your local machine for development and testing purposes. See deployment for notes on how to deploy the project on a live system.

Prerequisites

Installing

git clone https://github.com/KodeWorker/Oddyssey.git
git clone https://github.com/KodeWorker/PYGUSES.git ./Oddyssey/src/PYGUSES

Running the Game

Oddyssey source code is in /src/GameManager. The PYGUSES module is in /src/PYGUSES.

Source code test

Run the main python script.

python /src/main.py

ToolBar and MainScreen

  • adventure should contain 2 objects: toolbar and MainScreen (DONE)
  • rename adventure.py -> new_game.py (DONE)
  • rename 1st item in the main menu of game.py -> New Game (DONE)

Mouse and Keyboard control

  • Should itemize the keyboard & mouse controller (2/2 mouse, keyboard controller DONE!)
  • Mouse cursor failed in the menu section of game (DONE!)
  • Key event should be blocked while returning main menu. (DONE by universal keyboard controller)

Environment Handler

  • visual effect on different environment setting
  • basic weather: fair, rainy, foggy

default menu color theme

  • color and style of the menu object should be more comfortable to read. (DONE -> light brown)
  • menu object should support mouse-enable selection (DONE)

Visibility

  • implement 2d visibility algorithm (DONE)
  • implement raycasting visibility (DONE)
  • add lighting system (POSTPONDED moved to visual effect not algorithm)

Enemy and NPCs interactions

  • enemies (basic enemy DONE)
  • NPCs (basic npc DONE)
  • character interactions
  • enemy should track the path to the last saw location of player

default menu setting

  • disable default menu flicker (DONE)
  • disable default select indicator (/Right /Left arrow) (DONE)

Map object

  • implement tile system (DONE)
  • basic save and load with pickle(or .txt file) (DONE)
