PromptClip is a Tauri app to manage AI prompts easily. It provides a convenient way to save prompts and retrieve them for later use. With PromptClip, you can efficiently manage and organize your AI prompts to enhance your workflow.

A MacOS global search bar makes it easy for you to get your copy your prompts to the clipboard.

Access the global MacOS search with CMD + SHIFT + G. The search bar works similar to Spotlight or Alfred.

Contributing

We welcome contributions from the community! If you would like to contribute to PromptClip, please follow the steps below:

1. Fork the repository and clone it locally.
2. Install the necessary dependencies by running the appropriate command for your package manager (npm install or yarn).
3. Make your desired changes and improvements to the codebase.
4. Test your changes thoroughly to ensure they don't introduce any bugs or issues.
5. Commit your changes and push them to your forked repository.
6. Submit a pull request with a clear description of the changes you made.

Building the App

To build PromptClip, follow the steps below:

1. Install the necessary dependencies by running the appropriate command for your package manager (npm install or yarn).
2. Build the app by running the appropriate command for your package manager (npm run build or yarn build).

Running a Development Version

To run PromptClip in development mode, follow the steps below:

1. Install the necessary dependencies by running the appropriate command for your package manager (npm install or yarn).
2. Start the development server by running the appropriate command for your package manager (npm run tauri dev or yarn tauri dev).

If you encounter any issues, please make sure you have all the necessary dependencies installed and try running the appropriate build command (npm run tauri build or yarn tauri build) after installing dependencies.

promptclip's Issues

Outline on text inputs gets cut off for some reason

When selecting a text input the outline on the sides is not visible due to overflow hidden I assume.

Create a shortcut to create a new Prompt when on Dashboard

I think you should also allow Command+N to create prompts in the overview to allow power users to be quick with this tool (since it is probably those users who would be interested in a an app like this).

note:
Can add tooltips to the buttons to show it's shortcut

Security update for auto-launch

Add logic to prompt the user to update the privacy/security settings in Mac to allow auto-launch at login.

Figure out a way to make it obvious that the prompt has been copied after clicking on it

When copying a prompt from within the “Finder” it is not clear to me that it actually copied.

Refactor CSS in JSX files

Currently the Styling for the components is scattered across the place.

Show the application when Opened

Opening the application only opens it up for me in the background (topbar). I need to click “Show” and only then I see it.

The titles of MostUsed and RecentlyUsed should have spaces.

Remove or Disable "New Prompt" button when on it's page

Why is the button to add a new prompt still there when I am already on the page to add a new prompt?

When using CMD + N in the search bar open Dashboard directly with "New Prompt" open

If you open the search bar and then hit CMD + N, the dashboard opens.

It should open with the "New Prompt" window.

Changing short cut results in Dashboard opening on short cut

Steps to reproduce:

• Open Dashboard, and Settings
• Change Short cut to CMD + SHIFT + D or something else
• Now save and close the window
• Press CMD + SHIFT + D
• You'll see that the dashboard window opens instead of the search bar.

Redirect to All Prompts once the prompt has been added

I don’t think users are going to add multiple prompts in a row, maybe redirect to the all prompts page after a successful addition?

Ability to create a category from "Add Prompt" menu itself

I think it would be helpful to be able to create a category in the “add prompt” screen to reduce the amount of steps users need to take to add a prompt.

Move the Settings icon from Top-Right to bottom left

Figure out a way to automatically refresh the prompts & it's stats on change

Why is there a refresh button on the all prompts page? Shouldn’t the app itself refresh it for you when it detects new prompts? When would there be a new prompt when you are still on this page?

use same styled icons everywhere

There might be some icons in the UI which are different from each other, Find and make sure they're similar.

Clicking on "Show" crashes app

Decide on what to do with the "used count" icon on Detailed Prompt view

Feedback:

I do not know what the first icon to the right in the prompt overview means or does.

The icon for how many times the prompt has been used doesn't make sense. More over I don't think that it brings any value to the workflow as we already have a section for most used prompts.

Try to Combine CustomIconButton & CustomButton with variants

CustomIconButton & CustomButton are two custom components. It would be good if those two components are converted to one component which can then be used anywhere using it's variants.
