Code modification

The code is interesting, and I would like to work and contribute to it.

In the code, I have seen "ld" which I assume is the distance between vehicle rear vehicle and the path. Is that correct?

What is ld stand for, do you agree to change it? As a starting point, I would like to improve code readability.
