asee's Issues

Review ASEE paper draft

I've added as much information as I can think of at this point to the paper. I'm asking for reviewers, specifically for the following:

  • Did I fix all the references/put them in the correct format?
  • What is the broader impact of our results as it relates to ASEE’s Computing & Information Technology Division?
  • What growth opportunities can we offer ASEE’s C&IT?
    • Do we think our teaching approaches are the reason why our survey results are so positive? If so, can we offer recommendations?
  • Is the acknowledgment correct @jduckles?
  • @elliewix Please review the information I added to the methods section. I'm hoping it'll help you to finish up the limitations.

Please add your changes/editions/additions directly to the paper by Thursday, February 1st midnight UTC. Click here for your timezone. Check off any tasks you've completed as well.

Here is a description of the C&IT Division from the website:

Computing & Information Technology
With an ever-increasing volume of information from which needed portions must be selected, information procurement is becoming a major part of the engineer's work. This division is concerned with meeting the information crisis, both through efficient use of available information tools and through development of better systems.

Request to review RMD for ASEE paper

Hello team!

I've finished the RMD file that we'll use for figures/tables for the ASEE paper.

I would love a second (or third!) set of eyes on this code. I'm also in need of help for the following figures:

  • A breakdown of behaviors adopted by status (I'm interested in whether grad students adopt different behaviors than faculty, industry, etc.)

  • A breakdown of workshop impact by status (I'm interested in whether the workshops impacted learners in different ways, for example, did more faculty say their confidence improved than post-docs, etc.)

  • Breakdown of programming usage (pre and post) by Status.

  • I also need help making a grid of the demographic figures (i.e. one figure that shows # workshops attended and time since attending a workshop, one figure that shows status and field).

  • Since we're presenting at an engineering education conference it would be nice to pull out the behaviors and workshop impact responses just for the people whose status is Engineer. I believe there are only 46 though.

  • I'm also interested in discussing if we should include the pre/post residual plot.

(maybe I should've created a separate issue for each question???)
