It seems like some updates in the grid graphic engine don't play well with the grobs stored inside the hypo_img table, leading many functions within the {hypoimg} package to throw an error - eg from the vignette:

                 plot_names = TRUE, plot_name_size = 5)

An emergency workaround that should still work is loading the original svg files that are shipped with the package, eg:
