Link both ways. Need to be able to get to the repo from the blog, and to the blog from the repo.
Ditto from the PM tool, the Wiki, the ticketing system, and so on.

A lot of work that needs to be done to set up the host before it has a prayer of building Android

• Install Java
• Install Eclipse and Friends
• Install a slew of packages
• ...

Get the standard make to work.

Burn an SD card with what I've built.
Boot the beaglebone from it.
Verify that I can see and run the UI from my host.

This may require making more space. I may even have to buy an external drive. I dunno.

Karim supplied a tarball. If that's available somewhere, I need to find it. If not, perhaps I'll be able to post it or something.

• Modify udev
• Install minicom (or putty), vinagre
• Burn the already-made Android distro Karim (or anyone else) supplied onto a micro-SD card
• Bring up beagleboard with distro and connect over serial
• Connect with adb shell
• Create a wired-connection entry, named beagleboard, in the network monitor using fixed address 192.168.1.2, netmask 255.255.255.0, with default route as 192.168.1.1
• On the board, set up like this:
  netcfg eth0 up
  ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
  androidvncserver &
• Launch vinagre, connect to board, and verify you can see Android UI

Only the electronic preview version is currently available from O'Reilly. On the other hand, this means you can download it to whatever host you're working on and read it there.

Me, I also uploaded the pdf to my Kindle bookshelf, but the reformatting that takes place is pretty bad.

The beagleboard came with one cable: USB to mini-USB.
Ordered USB-to-barrel connector and ethernet (cat6) cables.
Ordered two type-6 micro-SD cards for programming.
