Contributing:

Updated of package dependencies:

• We use renovate to auto-update our dependencies, so we don't need to do that manually.
• Please use specific package dependencies like "1.3.5": With tracking the versions it could help avoid breaking things (even while we already make use of pnpm-lock.yaml)

Start developing:

Use corepack enable to make sure you have the same package manager enabled as we use in the project (pnpm in the version set in package.json).

Scripts

After installing the dependencies (via pnpm install), run

• pnpm run dev for starting gatsby in dev mode
• pnpm run format formatting all sources via prettier
• pnpm run test verify valid participants data
• pnpm run build verify that static build works

Project Structure

The website is a static page that gets built through SvelteKit with their adapter-static. You can find the routes in the src/routes directory.

Every page is put in +page.svelte and may include additional components just for that page or reusable components or functions from the src/lib folder.

Why food?

No Food, no craftsmanship! Even the best people/coder need a full stomach - help us get some delicious energy-restorings for our guests. Of course as a sponsor you can either have a say in what to serve or you can leave it completely up to us to choose the right developers nutriment. And last year we got them all fed, so it's not as hard as it sounds :).

How does it work?

Last year we asked some food companies for offers and had the sponsor confirm that amount up front. Once the food was delivered on the day the sponsor pulled out the credit card and made all attendees happy by enabling them to fill up their stomaches. And believe it or not, they had been happier and their energy levels had been restored and they went on for another half a day, learning and teaching.

Why t-shirts?

We want to be a nice community of craftmen and to show this we want to wear the same t-shirt.
This is also a nice souvenir, which reminds us about that great event.
Everybody who attends has the chance to give us his t-shirt size to register for a shirt.

How does it work?

Last year we found a t-shirt shop in Munich which created nice prints on t-shirts made of high quality cotton.

Why money?

At the event some spontaneous expenses come up from time to time. E.g. in 2017 it was so hot, that we filled up a small swimming pool with ice cubes to cool down the drinks, and also our feet :), see here.
Those kind of things we do not plan for, and since we as organizers do not collect any money we want to make sure that we have a sponsor who can cover those things when needed.

How does it work?

Since you as a sponsor will have five seats and we expect people from your company to be on site, the best way is to bring the money and be available whenever needed. So we can come and ask you to pay whatever comes up as a surprising expense.

My participation PR build (#80) fails because of I'm not interested in a t-shirt (https://github.com/jscraftcamp/website/pull/80/files#diff-6ded8776bf456b08a0828e4612b48e50R11).
The documentation mentions: We will have a limited number of t-shirts with the event and sponsor logos. If you want one: fit (W=women, M=Man) and size (S,M,L,XL), e.g. W-S or M-XL. ... If you want one.
According to this docs I thought null was a legit option as well. Apparently it isn't.

I can't fix this by myself as I'm currently on vacation and on edge only. Also, I'm happy with empty string also :-)

The human body is made out of 90% of water - a good reason to always stay hydratred. For a developer, it might only be 70% water and 20% coffee (which we also search a sponsor for). Still: we need some nice beverages for our guests to stay fluid. Help us by either sponsoring the drinks completely or let us help you with a selection we like!

How does it work?

Last year we ordered the amount of drinks we thought will be enough. The cool thing is that most companies also take back the bottles that had not been opened yet. The bill will be sent to the sponsors address afterwards.

Why Coffee?

Many people want to have a coffee, especially in the morning when the open space starts many people crave for a coffee. But also after lunch many like to grab a coffee.

How does it work?

Last year we had rented two coffee machines and cups from an external company. The coffee was prepared in two 10 liter "tanks", so we always had warm coffee.
If the sponsor for the coffee has a demand for a higher quality coffee or service, the attendees will definitely appreciate it.

At the end of the first day we want to throw a party. The location is perfect to also be outside (permitting weather) and we also don't have restrictions since there is nobody living close by. So the party can be open end :).
This year we moved the JSCraftCamp to take place in summer, which allows to make use of the garden surrounding the event space. And the Isar is close too, so this might be epic.
If the party has music, BBQ or just drinks is up to the sponsor. We would like to have a party and leave it to those bringing the money what can be afforded, of course we help organising if wanted.

Add sponsoring issue for chairs (Marco)

Why chairs?

We have a big hall and not enough chairs available in the office. In order for all people to have a seat while gathering in the center of the open space we need to rent chairs.
We will also need some benches (Bierbaenke) for sitting outside.
Estimated cost ~300 Euro.

How does it work?

Last year we contracted an external company, that was payed directly by the sponsor. We, the JSCraftCamp organizers, only organzied that the company delivers the right number of the chairs we wanted. Once they were delivered, the evening before the event volunteers set them up in the event space.

The payment will be done by the sponsor directly to the company where we rent the chairs from. We will put you in contact and you (the sponsor) can handle it from that point on.
