• the ORM layer creates table with the latin-1 character set
• not sure if the above causes the issues

This line, https://github.com/jrconlin/campaign_manager/blob/master/campaign.ini#L25, if used causes the app to HTTP 500.

When new database tables are created by the application it inserts a "test" record into the "campaign" table by default. This causes the app's /status/ page to fail and seems to cause issues elsewhere.

Can this behavior be removed or fixed?

So calling /status/ from localhost can take a while (more than 5s) to return anything. Usually it returns an HTTP 200 response.

It initially thought this was due to the database, but on the same AWS server I'm connected to RDS via the mysql cli and get very fast response times. I also see records being written into the table so not sure what is causing the issue.

In AWS environment. "db.type" = "mysql"
Using prod RDS.
redirect working, but metric logger returning error
[campaigns] Could not increment id: get : null"

When going to https://cm.host/ it will redirect to http://cm.host/author/1/ losing the https. It would be good if the 307 Temporary Redirect was to a relative url, /author/1/ instead of http://host/author/1/.
