Ski-Blade - Instantaneously Determine Which Ski Resort(s) have the Best Weather Conditions.

Weather conditions play a huge part in deciding which mountain to ski. While skiing on fresh powder is an incredible experience, a rainy day can spell doom for any ski trip. Because of this, it’s important to compare the weather at each mountain being considered.

We created an app that gathers weather data from each mountain into a dashboard, that allows the user to quickly determine which mountain is the most optimal for skiiing and snowboarding.

We will be using the Dark Sky API, to gather the weather data of each resort. Specifically, it will explain the weather status (rain, snow, neutral), the amount (inches) of snow, and the visibility of each resort.

Build the shiny app

We need to keep updating the shiny app with weather and best location for ski resorts.

Create map

We have to create the map that shows all the ski resorts

Pull and Format API information

We need to pull the information from weatherunlocked.com and get the data from it

Process data

We need to process the returned data for portrayal in the shiny app

Plot the symbols

We have to assign colors to the specific places on the map by creating a function

Collect coordinates of ski resorts

We need to find the coordinates for each ski resort we intend to use so that we can send them to the weather API.
