Wireless vs Standard Xbox 360 Controller descriptor

This code has worked really well so far except very recently. Something has changed in many (chrome-based) browsers. Now sites like gamepad tester website (or any gamepad api based site) do not recognize the joystick unless a different joystick is plugged in. Even after seeing this joystick, no movement of the thumbsticks/buttons registers. Nonetheless, the windows Game Controllers utility and games pick up the joystick fine.

My project is highly dependent on the gamepad api so I'm hoping you can help me.

Currently the joystick is shown as an"Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows."

Is it possible to have the descriptor register the joystick as an "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows?" I.E. a standard Xbox 360 controller.
