Deploy a persistence layer to allow multiple API servers to cache common service calls.
Define how to cache common calls.

Need to implement some form of versioning that is automated and doesn't require manually editing build.gradle. There are a few Gradle versioning plugins that look interesting, just need to evaluate, pick one and implement.

Rather than rolling our own, why not use a framework that already has everything built in?

Requirements:

• Authentication (Oauth)
  • Register
  • Login
  • Logout
  • Remember Me
• View tasks
• Create new tasks
• Delete existing tasks

I tried implementing ModelMapper with bad results (doesn't work). For now we're manually mapping but it would be great to have this done in a more automatic way.

This post on Stack Overflow has some interesting suggestions for how to roll your own. I ended up going with the first option (the simplest):

Store user sessions in a message queue so we can scale up the number of FE hosts.

As an installer, I'd like to be able to customize the default user/password for the admin and read-only accounts that are seeded when the backend starts up.
