API Response parse "failed" due to weird JSON response

Responses from the server seem to come with some weird character at the end that causes them not to parse which means that the library returns the status as "failed" since it can't parse the JSON.

ex:

Sending commands takes too long

I don't want to wait 10 seconds for my lightbulb to turn off.
